No they are lying yet again they HAVE to give you a MAC if you request one EVERY ISP gives MACs how Orange continue to get away with this is unbelievable.
i'm not so sure about that. As far as I know, if they have local loop unbundled (LLU) your exchange, then a MAC isnt required. You just need to ask for your line to be cleared.

They will issue an LLU MAC just takes 10 instead of the usually 3 days to migrate after redeeming the MAC to the new provider. List of ISP's that accept LLU MACs bit out of date now though. HERE

I've just finally got through on the phone without a wait. The Customer services bloke - 'Jay' - gave me loads of arguments against migrating, including "we only give you an llu code which is of no use"!
Anyway, he said it will be emailed within 5 working days....I'll let you know!
My divorce from Orange came through last week when I migrated to BT. It's fantastic, I can view videos on YouTube without the data stream stalling every few seconds and maintain a speed of 5Meg even at peak times compared to the 100K I was getting with Orange.
Amusingly when I requested my MAC key the bloke at Orange said "You'll have the same problem with another provider you know." Well Ya Boo Sucks! to you Mr Orange man.
Granted it is more expensive but you obviously get what you pay for.
Well Be did everything as they said they would and kept me informed all the way by e-mail and text (remember Orange bb has been a "little" unreliable..) in case I could not access my e-mails. Below are the results of my 1st connection with Be. Getting connected was easy and I am one of the strange MAC owners out here. Just plug in the box and away it went...........At last NO MORE Orange BB...........even tho they are still trying to get payment for an 8meg line I cancelled 3 weeks a go !!
Have been told this will improve I have only been connected for about 20mins at the moment......
Not bad considering Orange told me my exchange will only support 2mg !!
