I signed up the OrangeBroadband in Feb because I was able to get 8M BB for 5 pounds monthly fee with a free wireless router.
For 2 months I was quite happy with it. But now, it's a truly disaster.
When I first got the BB the router was reporting speed 6.5M and I was able to download about 5M speed(almost everyday).
(I'm living near an exchange. 30M)
but after I have been turning off and on router everyday the reported speed has dropped down gradually,but I should do it every morning if i don't turn off and turn on I can't use the internet in the morning. (no ping response).
In May, I've check my speed several times, and normally it shows UNDER 90kb/s 9H-24H and AFTER Midnight it suddenly changes to 3800kb/s until 6o'clock !! I presume the company has been controlling the speed intentionally.
this is today's report.(if i turn off and on 'Attainable download rate, downstream are going down)
So 1 week ago I rewrite a factory firmware of the router and the attainable download rate and downstream were changed and somehow a bit faster than before but still slow.
I think Orange is really nice company because it tells me 'if you pay peanuts you get monkeys'! haha..
anyway, Is there anyone who has similar problems to me?
I noticed since last night my router refuses to connect at anything faster than 3768 download rate as before I was getting 6200 ish which is the max for the line... seems like it has been throtlled
Will be on the phone to them tomorrow night, if they don't fix my attainable rate asap to what it was I'm going to cancel .
From those stats and what you said it sounds like the system is reacting to you turning the router on and off as if it's a real disconnection. Already looks like it's increased your target margin by Three levels to try and stabilise things, you'll probably have interleave turned on as well. It's either the disconnections or an underlying problem causing the reduction in speed.
