Orange are talking crap to you demand a MAC code off them tell them if you dont get one you will report them to Ofcom and the ISPA they cannot refuse you a MAC, they get commision to prevent you from leaving as ive stated before in another post.
They are fobbing you off its nothing to do with LLU tell them you want a MAC to go elsewhere dont take no for an answer.

Tell them u will report them they CANNOT refuse you one mention this site.
They can if they're simply unable to generate the code as the migration hasn't completed. There's been a fair few like this recently. Some problem prevents the migration from completing so you're sort of stuck.
As it's an incomplete line a MAC cannot be generated.

They can't issue a MAC while in the process of tranferring to LLU BUT they can completely clear the line. This is what they did for me and I am now with fast. It does cost money to reconnect with another ISP but at least it means being free of that shower of fools
Thanks very much for your mail - I feel as though I am not complaining about a minor problem now!! I will most certainly be emailing the people you suggested and will keep you posted - perhaps I should cancel the estate agents now!!

Hello Adrienne Ryan
I have been following your posts since you joined.
Your case was the one that I highlighted on BBC Radio Five Live on Thursday morning!
May I suggest that you contact the Wake Up To Money programme (Andy Verity is the presenter) and let him know of your situation.

Just remember depending on the policys of the ISP in question using a MAC code may not avoid the connection fees.
BTW charge for new connections made so when on LLU a migration to either another LLU provider or IPStream is technically a new connection on different equipment to before so the ISP is charged. Some pass this fee on, others don't, so it's best to always check first.

I'd say in this particular case, from what Adrienne has said, it's much more likely.
"I am still stuck as they cannot do this apparantly until I actually get connected" - suggests the migration is yet to complete, as I mentioned there's a bunch that this has happened to with a few other people posting about it on here.
What you say may be true, but when I have asked to be cleared from the line, I am met with the same excuse. It is just as Elhana says, As i have not migrated (week 11 now!!) A MAC code is simply no use.
"Orange - nothing rhymes with it and theres no ******* reason for it"
Do you think they may go with it??
Am expecting a call today from John in the NE call centre, wonder if I get it??

Just an update on my cancellation of Orange and my MAC code request.
Requested my MAC code 8-00 am friday and was promised 48hrs inc bank holiday, i cam home tonight and phoned Orange up and they told me 48hrs i asked to speak to supervisor and he said 48hrs from today, i told him i cancelled 8-00 am friday and he said no record of it being cancelled and again sort of threatened me with a early cancellation fee of nearly £200-00. I told him i was in no way gonna pay a cancellation fee as they did not supply a service anywhere near to what i was paying for. I told em about orangeproblems.co.uk and informed him i was gonna contact ispa, ofcom, radio 4, radio5, watchdog etc etc and he aid he couldnt help and would be emailed to me in 24hrs.
Sorry to go on but just thought i'd inform people waht they may encounter.
Thanks everyone.
Hi All
I received this email today along with anothere email saying that Orange cant get my payment details coz i stopped my d/d can anyone see any reason why i should pay for a crap service and if they will actually take any money of me
thanks
Unfortunately the payment details we have for you seem to be incorrect and we just need you to update them for us.
Hello
Thanks for letting us know that you want to leave Orange Broadband. We're sorry you'll be leaving us.
We'd be happy to talk through your reasons for leaving, so why not give us a call on 0870 010 2462* any time of the day, seven days a week.
There's a few things you'll need to remember before you go:
* if you've decided to leave us and you're still in your minimum term contract period, you'll still need to pay the remaining balance on your account. This means, if you wish to migrate at the end of month 6, you'll owe us 6 months' charges when you've successfully moved to your new provider.
* if you still want to leave and are moving to another provider, your new broadband provider will ask you for a Migration Authorisation Code or MAC code which is ****************. It's only valid for 30 days so if you don't move to another provider in the next 30 days, just ask us for a new one.
* you'll also need to give them your MAC code before you cancel your service with us, otherwise the MAC code won't work.
So what happens next?
* your account will stay open with us until your new provider tells us that you've been successfully moved. Then we'll cancel your broadband account for you.
