I think I'm probably asking for the moon but here goes. I live in France but my French isn't of a good enough standard to log onto an Orange forum there and either ask a question or decipher the answer. I have Livebox and telephone illimitee. I have the converter that goes into the Livebox and to which you are supposed to connect an ordinary phone to make calls via broadband. I used to use Skype and have a USB handset for that (subsequently discovering that nobody I know ever uses it much!). Is there an adapter on the market into which you could plug the USB Skype handset and the other end into the French telephone converter for Livebox?

It depends on the phone itself but it's highly unlikely you'll be able to get any adapter for it. Usually any phone that could use a simple adapter like that would come with it built in as it would be a big selling feature.
Also any adapter would be likely to cost more than a new basic handset.
