Just cancel the contract and go elsewhere, i'ts as simple as that!! I cancelled the direct debit first (do this to avoid any further payments) then cancel the contract. They will tell you that because you are under contract that you will have to pay a cancellation fee, but remind them that they have not provided the service you signed up for and you will contest the charges, in court if necessary, (don't forget that you have cancelled the direct debit so they can't take the fee from your account). There's a strong chance that they will waive the fee (as in my own case) then you will be free from this nightmare forevermore.WAKE UP!! CANCEL!!! . The service will NOT improve,as Orange put profits above service, and their mobile phone service will always take priority over the broadband as the profits are greater. So come on people and just do it. Let me know how you get on!! ps don't fall for anymore con tricks to get you to stay! remember what happened before?
i've done exactly the same. i "owe" them £200, but they can get stuffed.
my guess is that they just want to clear out us old time heavy usage freeserve users - that'll free up bandwidth for the "free broadband" mobile phone users who only do the odd email and browse the web a bit. margins are very tight in the mobile phone space - especially with the enormous amount wasted on 3G networks - so i dont see them investing in the ISP infrastructure anytime soon.

Will they send u a MAC Code if u decide to cancel under such circumstances?
My main worry is just the priod of days or weeks I may be without the net while I wait for a MAC Code, line clearing, migration and start date. When I think of it, it makes me stay wih Orange.I would go nuts without the net.
You do not have to cancel to change isp. Regardless of whether you're still under contract if you request a MAC they have to provide one. I would say migration is going to be the better option over cancellation, it's quicker and also some isp's charge for broadband activation. Migration should be fairly quick with very little downtime, maybe a couple of hours. The question of any outstanding monies is a separate issue.
Do u mean if I request for my MAC Code and get it , i still will be able to use my connection?
What happens when my new ISP wants the line to be cleared for them? How long will Orange take to clear it and does that mean I stay without the net till its cleared?
I am confused with this migration thing.Do not have a clue about its meaning.Someone help out.

I have been on the phone to them. They are adamant they will charge me for the cancellation and will issue me with a MAC.But I told them I would not be paying for the cancellation. They said I have to settle that separately and that my MAC will be sent.
I think they are just clutching straws there.
I have immediately cancelled my DD.My last payment went this morning. So they will be getting no more money from me.
They informed me my MAC will be due in 3-5 days via email.Fingers crossed.
I am wondering if my migration will go through even though I have cancelled my DD?

Once you give your MAC to your new provider when you order they will arrange the migration and tell you when it will be don't cancel your account with Orange till your migration is completed (about 10 days from and to an LLU line) and your connected to your new provider usually your account will be automatically cancelled but you can always ring Orange after to make sure they cancelled it their end as their well known for their incompetence
Whatever you do DONT cancel your account till after your migration.
