This livebox is going to be the death of me I swear! Im pritty sure the livebox signal is about as strong as a cup of pi** water, and its range is all of 30cm... but neverless i struggle on.
How can I improve the signal quality? or even get a signal. Im pritty sure the higher the box the better it gets but does ne one have a good channel to use etc?
I've not changed the channel since I installed my live box.. Its on channel 1..
I'm sharing my connection with my mate and its going from my caravan across a field and into his workshop, which has thick walls.. The distance between him and me is about 30-40 meters and he still gets 2 or 3 bars.. Thats with it on the desk beside me too, not felt the need to raise it up yet..
I'm not sure what to recommend though.. Is it close to a block wall at all or anything large and metallic? That can cause interference sometimes..
There is no "best" channel. It depends on what signals are already there, your location and what could get in the way of the signal. It's best when changing channels to just randomly hop around them as just going in order isn't the best way.
yeah but this is whats bugging me. for weeks i assumed it was my DSL connection but i think my usb adaptor is capping the speeds between my box and the computer because it doesnt like the signal! I tried changing channels and had to manually connect via ethernet to reset it again cause channel 4 was invisible to my computer.

I dont see what can be causing the interfearance? I aint got nothing in my house, no mobiles that are anywhere near the box, no nothing? Anyway to test?

A lot of the time you won't know what the cause is. Wireless is like that unfortuantly and it'll only get worse as there's more and more wifi being used.

Well it is always possible the livebox is faulty, you could try testing it in another location like a friend's house and see if it's still the same or better there.
My signal is pretty weak while im not downloading or using the net but once i begin downloading the signal strength goes to max and is steady, my box is in the next room to the PC im using.
I have 2 PCs connected to the Livebox plus an XBOX360 and a Sony PSP
I have 3 mobiles phones in the house and a cordless phone which havent affected the signal.
The USB WIFI is a Speedtouch 121.g
There was a guy on EBAY selling a mod kit for the Livebox which involved fitting a small external antenna......
