After a bad start with changing over from a Speedtouch modem to a Livebox (1 month without service) I am now experiencing slow connection speed and would appreciate your views.
Current Livebox download speeds around 1,015 Kbps. Prior to this average download speeds attained with Speedtouch modem were generally at least double this figure sometimes over 3000Kbps.
Test program today reported Download speed of 1017Kbps upload 258.2Kbps
Before changing to Livebox had some issues with line dropping (Speedtouch) and noticed that some time after speaking to customer services about this issue my download speed dropped.
Do you think it possible that Orange has limited my line speed due to earlier complaints of line dropping?
If this is the case will I be forced to contact the dreaded support team again or will the system settle down to automatically give me the best speed ?

If you're on an LLU line then I can see that happening pretty easily.
What does the livebox show for upstream and downstream rates on it's system info page? That along with the noise margin and attenuation will help give a clearer picture.
Well it would probably need looking into as a fault first, although that might come back with no problems if it's been capped. Other than that it's probably the escalations team.

Thank you very much for your help and suggestions. I have spoken to customer services the first time this morning asked to do some test via Thinkbroadband.com got speed result 950-960Kbps down and 240Kbps up.
Called back with results- the guy found that my line had been capped - although supposedly at 2Mb.
Been told that he would send report to engineers and they would phone me back with results - that will be a first!
