I've been having a slow connection this last week or so, in the region of 500kbs (connected wirelessly or using a network cable). This using a wireless routher - Netgear DG834G.

I tried using the old Speedtouch modem (USB) I got off Wanadoo and achieved speeds of 1300 kbs. Not the fastest but at least I can watch youtube clips.

Can anyone explain this?

In theory the netgear should give you a much better connection than the speedtouch modem is the MTU etc configured ok in the netgear?

I've never had problems until now...

Not entirely sure what MTU means, but this is what I have:

Encapsulation: PPPoA (PPP over ATM)
Get Dynamically From ISP
Primary DNS: 195 92 195 94
Secondary DNS: 195 92 195 95
NAT (Network Address Translation) Enabled
Multiplexing Method: VC Based
VPI: 0
VCI: 38

Other than that, not sure what should be looking at.

Dear all,

I have bitten the bullet so to speak and decided to give Orange a go despite all the horror stories i have read. For £5 a month worth the chance I think.

Just got my Livebox and here are my first results:

Considering I am currently paying £19.99 a month for Virgin Media I am plesantly surprised however I will keep you all updated.
