We are aware (and so are Orange - their Indian call centre - although their website system status does not reflect this) that there is an outage in South London for Orange users...
We know of one exchange (as the user has contacted us):
Also, the user affected on the Dulwich exchange asked for their MAC - only to be told that there was a long queue waiting for the MAC issuing deprtment followed by "the office that issues MACs is closed for the day and re-opens tomorrow morning"! - So is this the new tactic to delay issuing a MAC code perhaps - Give the customer time to cool down and maybe they will not request their MAC tomorrow???!!!
Was affected by the outage Vauxhall (WRVAUX) from about 1-2pm to 9pm.
Incidentally, CS saw fit to talk to me through TWO livebox resets before indulging this information, despite me saying its was fine in the morning till about 1pm when I lost connection...
I've not been able to connect in the evenings since Thursday last week - 10th May - almost a week.
I'm in Surrey Quays - SE London. Their Indian call centre is saying the Greenwich exchange has the problem. They can't tell me when it will be fixed - they keep saying it will be fixed in 24hrs - but it never is.
It works okay in the mornings - so it's a peak time problem - which reminds me of the over subscription problems the small ISP Evesham had...
I’m going to connect tomorrow morning and stay connected into the evening to see if that gets me online in the evening.
I guess if you hear any company you use is being taken over by a big company who doesn’t specialise in the field – then you should just run away…I’m waiting for Virgin to take over Orange now – and totally mess everything up.
I thought Orange were okay until last week – now I’m looking for another company – but other get bad reviews too – Tiscalli, Bulldog…..may have to revert back to dial up like I’m using just now!
My exchange is the Walworth exchange (very central SE London). I have spent the last 6 evenings on the phone to Orange and tonight is the only day they denied there was an outage where I live (though they did say Greenwich, Leeds & Mansfield). Yet at around 12:15 in the early hours my connection reappeared (no restarting FireFox or anything).
Does anyone know any way of contacting Orange other than the Indian call centre (I'm not being anti-Indian - in the Wanadoo days I found them very helpful)?
I bet the connection works tomorrow at 7, then fails, maybe reappears at 6:30pm and then falls over at 6:45. That's been my daily pattern.
Me too - Bromley exchange? (Just SE of London) It's been 'PPP Server Disconnected' or something along those lines every evening around 5-6, it just doesn't work anymore (Stuck on 'Verifying Username...' or 'Authorising...') Still not up by 11PM, but fine in the morning.
phewww - Thank god for that I'm not the only one... after 5 days of no internet during the evenings when I'm at home, I've finally had enough. Got in touch with Orange - to their very useful support line " We have a problem - Please try later ". Humm !
Really have had enough - but I'm actually glad to find I'm not the only one having a mare... Has anyone contacted OFCOM / BBC / Watchdog ? lets get some media coverage of how rubbish Orange are getting...
Same problem here.
LLU Wandsworth exchange (london) for 8Meg max
Very low evening speeds, like 56k modem connexion !
Tried to contact Orange. No luck. Said they will test the line but i believe that this will be done daytime when speed is good......so unfortunately i am stuck with 11 months Orange contract !!!!!.
