There were dialing problems with the 2.2mbps connection i.e. no dial tone.
The call centre eventually said this was due to migration from 2 to 8 meg which was unrequested.
The service came back after a day or so but it is now a lot slower. Is this because a new modem is needed for 8 mbps (still have same SpeedTouch) or the computer is too dated (3+ years old) or another reason?
On the "General" information for about the connection for "Wannadoo Broadband Satutus" it still says it is a 2.2 mbps. Is there a way of checking the actual speed?
I went through the same(though I lost connection for 3 months!), broadband came back 2 days before I cancelled my contract. They were swift at disconnecting me!
PC should make NO difference,my old pc was over 5 years and well able to handle 8Mbs.
Modem, perhaps, though in my 3 months of misery, one of the 'fixes' they supplied was a ...speedtouch modem... which did work fine...once the engineers(haha!) at Orange had worked out how to plug in a wire at the exchange.
They may offer you an upgrade if you moan a bit(but if you get offered a livebox - check the paperwork they send - there's small print attempting to tie you in for another 12 months), I'd offer you the one they sent me, only I jumped on it in a fit of anger. Did make me feel better , having just got off the phone with those imbeciles they call Customer Support.
