Hi guys, new member.
I recently "upgraded" from the free 2meg service I was getting with my mobile phone package to the 8meg package with the livebox and the accompanying LLU. No problems at all with the livebox, but I noticed quite quickly that the download speeds I'm getting are nowhere near the 6.5 to 8meg that both Orange and BT said I should be getting(I live 0.5 mile from my exchange). As an Orange mobile phone user, I get free access to customer services, so I tend to just keep ringing until someone says something that makes sense. Mostly, all I kept getting was "well, we only said the speed would be up to 8meg". Although recently, I spoke to a guy (who wasn't in an Indian call centre) who said that there were long term problems with the service and they have been unable to diagnose the problem yet and, rather than disconnect everyone completely while tracing the fault, they had reduced everyones speed. He couldn't give me a timescale for the resolution of the problem.
My techie knowledge is sketchy at best, so does this make sense to anyone?

That is pretty much exactly what someone from the customer care department just told me about 5 mins ago.. Although its also quite similar to what someone from the tech department told me about 3 weeks ago.. When asked if this was the same fault they said "Yes, its still yet to be resolved but I'm told it'll only be another 72 hours till its fixed then everyones speeds will go back to normal"..

ROFL, how many times are they going to say that. I'll be getting my MAC early next week (hopefully) and can't wait to cancel my account. I think I'll go with BT.
