Sorry to bleet on but I am not getting any resolution or idea of when this crap will end.
I thought waiting for the enigmatic LLU completion was a wast of time so I cancelled contract and direct debit.
Now I am stuck in limbo waiting for them to complete the LLU BEFORE they cease my line. They said they cannot even BEGIN clearing the line until they have completed this bloody migration. They are such liars - they wrote and told me I couldnt have a MAC code because they had already ceased my line previously. How brain twisting is that. There isnt one single person at Orange who is prepared to take any responsibility = no solution.
(Called OFCOM twice
Written a long and detailed letter to Orange CS)
Response: Nothing other than a lletter saying they'll charge £100 if I dont send the livebox back.
Hi MR Scruff - one step ahead mate, done that as I want to join up with Fast. They cant do anything until the line is cleared of these idiots. I'm trapped in the waiting game.
Quite simply I just dont trust Orange to do what they're supposed to do.And it seems I have no power to do anything about it at this stage.
FAST have come to back to me, and it looks as if i've been LLUed as well.
"clearing the line" involves removing a "tag" on the line - and it usually involves a call with Ofcom to get some arses kicked.
had to do that when i moved house, and the previous owners had a "tag" on the line.
When I called Ofcom I noted that they say on a recorded message to callers that
Quote:
"although we dont investigate individual complaints we do take into account if a large number of complaints are directed at the same company" (or words to that effect)
in other words, the more people that call Ofcom the better.
I've called Ofcom twice, and still it hasnt instigated a positive response from the merry pranksters that profess the future as being 'bright'.

FAST have emailed me (wow! that was err.. FAST....) and will take my order to get the ball rolling, even if i've been LLUed.
i'll see how this one pans out and feed back here, but i'm impressed already with them.
Hi Mr Scruff, yes its refreshing to speak to a company that
a) listen and respond to what you are saying
b) act promptly
c) behave as though they are pleased to have your custom
d) PROVIDE THE SERVICE THAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR
e) tell the truth
f) dont abuse cheap labour to inefficiently deal with tech issues
so-on and so-on the list could go condemning the enemy
just got an email from fast (after sending a mail to sales@fast, making some inquiries and filling out an online form that the sent a link to me for)
"All received and processed - you should now have received a welcome e-mail
from us with your login details, and the migration should complete next
Thursday or Friday I would expect."
I'm following people migrations with interest and waiting my time.. FAST seem very expensive though..
I know Orange is annoying and the service is sh*t but is FAST really worth paying triple the price for? (I'm talking the 100gb package.. But the whole reason I took up oranges unlimited service was because it was UNLIMITED)

I'd been considering ukfsn anyone else with them?
ukfsn is £79.99 for 8 meg and truely unlimited... so they're obviously factoring in bandwidth costs there and averaging it out in the pricing..

you get what you pay for. you can either go the cheapo Orange/ Talk Talk/tiscali route , and get broadband capping, traffic shaping, outages and p**s poor support, or pay a bit extra for a much better service.
orange's "unlimited" service is capped at about 40 gig. i got a letter from them when i hit 50 gig.

Yeh thats what I meant with going for Orange unlimited.. I thought I'd actually be getting unlimited.. so now I want to know what I'm getting for definite before signing up..
I was thinking the 30/300 package with ukfsn.. I don't need unlimited just definitely wanted more than 40 gb a month.. My friends with Tiscali and he's suffering from the traffic shapping thing.. I guess I might just have to shell out a little more then..

I JUST WANT MY BROADBAND BACK WAAAAAHH !!!!!!!
Can't understand this - I think they are feeding you rubbish - I asked for my line to be cleared last Thursday. I called back Friday and Monday to check they were doing it and both times I was told that the line would be cleared next Thuursday 10th. Called fast today and they said the line was nearly clear but there was a bit of a tag left on it and gave me a number to call at BT where I got through straight away. The BT guy said that this tag was left because the job was completing tomorrow (just as Orange said) and by Friday I would be free. It is not true that they can't clear the line because of LLU!!!!
With regards to Fast I am only going to be paying £33.99 per month as opposed to £28.99 a month with Orange and I strongly believe that you do get what you pay for. Their customer service is second to none with English speaking people. I do have to pay the £49.98 to join but that is because I have no MAC code and god knows how long I would have to wait for a MAC code with those idiots.
Try Orange again and tell them you want your line cleared, no nonsense and OFCOM have said that although a MAC code can't be provided during migration they can clear your line
The latest news is (and I dont understand this)
They cant clear the line because of DSM error. They have to ask me to call back everyday until they have spoken to engineers. Because I cancelled my account apparantly to complete the cease they had to "start from scratch" on my line which takes longer, but because they couldnt detect broadband on my line whilst they were upgrading it they couldnt issue a MAC code either.

Seems like Orange are still playing games last year they were giving invalid MACs out one after the other then they were telling everyone its pointless giving you an LLU MAC cos no one will accept them now it can't clear the line because of LLU migration what utter bulls**t they talk,
When i left last july they made it as awkward as possible for me to leave and kept stalling with issuing my MAC after waiting 3 weeks one agent even said to me well hard luck you will have to wait and hung up, i was lucky the ISPA got me mine off them within 2 hours and a fone call from Orange with an aplology i told them to stuff their apology, i went to IDNet brilliant ISP they said dont count on this MAC working because most of the LLU MACs we get from Orange are invalid thankfully mine wasn't.
I do agree you do pay for what you get and people are now realising so called "FREE" and "UNLIMITED" broadband is not what its seems and the likes of Orange know those 2 words will attract a lot of customers sadly to see after being locked in a lengthy contract what they have put themselves in for.
Good luck to those getting away from this pile of lowdown s**t.
Regards
