I've been with Orange/wanadoo/freeserve for years and a few weeks ago i got a call from them saying that they were going to upgrade me to 8megs for free and send me a livebox for being such a loyal customer. I asked if there was a catch such as an extended contract as i was considering leaving them and was assured there wasnt so i went for it.
I've noticed absolutly no speed increase whatsoever so far. My new livebox gives neet line info that my old router didnt and i have an attanable download rate of 7mb/s but my actual rate is 608kb/s? After reading the forums a bit it appears that its a common problem so i want to switch.
Is it worth completely cancelling my account and waiting for my line to be cleared of this LLU crap or should i just get the MAC code and switch that way. I'm planning on switching to Sky who do acepet the codes but i'm not sure what the difference in service will be with them compared to a non LLU line.
The key is that you are actually moving away from Orange, which means you will no longer be using the Orange LLU equipment to give you broadband. I think it would be quicker to migrate via MAC code. Do a search here, I know there are others who have migrated to Sky.
For the details on how Sky provide their service I suggest looking at their FAQ on their site. Also check out www.thinkbroadband.com and www.dslzoneuk.net for more info on Sky's service as well as users opinion on it. You'll be able to weigh up pro's and con's moving to Sky (I doubt theres any con's though).
