I lost my connection on the 19th April and after a daily routine shared by many of you (endless calls to support and promises of reconnection that got further and further into the future), I told Orange to take a jump and I would see them in court for the 2 months DDs they reckoned i owe them...
Have to say I was online with Telewest/Virgin cable inside 48 hours, router and modem worked perfectly and now get 9.8Meg consistently on the high speed package even now at 21:00 hours
Orange are an absolute shower - I didnt choose to be with them as I was just an old Freeserve customer that got caught up in the cesspit that is Orange.
I hope all those who are suffering like I did manage to get themselves sorted. Sooner or later though you have to bite the bullet and go elsewhere if there is no light at the end of the tunnel
I'm going to request my MAC code from Orange tomorrow, I might have it by the end of next week. If by then the connection isn't sorted, I'm off. MAC or no MAC.
Did you request the MAC and give it to Virgin, 48 hours is very quick.
I'm considering BT or Virgin, which deal do you have with V?
hiya I'm interested to know if you got your MAC code too. They refused to gve me one, said they couldnt whilst migrating. I told em to cancel contract and clear line so I'm waiting it out - 10-20days I'm told by BT.
Can you shed any light on wait time before I can join another provider?
ordered my MAC code yesterday evening. i've had enough of them.
they said i'll get the MAC in 5 days. plus i'll have a bill for £200 - as i'm breaking the 12 month contract. i wonder if they'll chase me up for it or will it go to court? doubtful.

If you have been disconnected for more than 4 wks, I advice you to try the small claim court and give them a letter in writing regarding the termination of your contract. In this situation, you should have enough ground to ask them to release you with any due.
