One response I had from broadband support was that I should buy my own domain name and then I could send as many emails at once as I wanted!
That's not entirely accurate I'm afraid. Many webhosts have their own view on what is and what isn't spam and have limits imposed on the number of mails you can send and how quickly.
One site i run for a mail campaign for is a dog rescue, they have a newsletter subscription on the site and luckily with the click of a button we can mailshot over 1000 people with no issues.
Another site we tried to do the same thing on with a different host, won't allow more than 6 mails to be sent at once, funnily enough, that site will be move to a new server shortly.
So i'm afraid buying your own domain isn't the perfect answer if you have the worng hosting co.
My info regarding my saga I will limit to the relevance of this topic. I was told about this 'reduction'. I rang Rotherham (their other call centre which I was told was put through to India at 9.45pm every evening), during the day and the chap there was speechless about this 'reduction' and stated he had never heard of it.
Orange are rubbish. They do not communicate, they are clearly very poorly managed. The outsourcing hasn't worked well - I have reams of experience of time wasting calls to speak to someone whose dialect is so strong I can barely understand their sentences.
Orange management should be made to use their own systems.
I 'had' Three webmail addresses - NONE of which work now....I have to use outlook express with a new email address.
I cannot access my contacts (I run a small business and do lots of voluntary work) to inform them of my new address.
Next task, cancelling email accounts. I googled 'how to cancel email address' which of course is useless.
As I am now reduced to dial-up because they can't manage their systems everything is painfully slow.
I have a BT engineer friend who tested the line remotely and in my house and over several days and with their best equipment and found nothing wrong with the line....so far anyway.
Am leaving Orange as soon as possible. Wish I had found this site earlier.
