As more and more people seem to be breaking the 2.7meg cap on LLU, i thought it would be best if we had a thread dedicated to it just to keep all this discussion in one place.
So it looks like Orange are upgrading the LLU equiptment exchange by exchange, can anyone see any patterns to this? like south to north, etc etc
2mb down, 200kb up here @ the filton exchange in Bristol. Comes complete with time outs too, so whilst the connection doesnt drop totally for a lengthy period, there is no chance of online gaming, e.g. a fps.

I've been experiencing slower-than-typical speed (< 1Mb/s) over the last
week or so, where before there were speeds consistently closer to 2.7 Mb/s.
This has been accompanied by session dropouts and failed logins with the
Orange servers.
I'm hoping, from your upbeat reports, that this flakiness is due to LLU
upgrade work at my exchange. I'm only 400m from Leytonstone exchange
so I hope to see great things happen shortly!

Exactly the same story here (King's Cross), many dropouts and periods of failed ADSL initialisation over the last week or so, now getting a faster and more reliable connection than I have ever experienced since the 8Mb 'upgrade'.
Unfortunately for Orange, it's all too late, as I've already arranged to migrate to another provider and will pursue Orange for compensation for the terrible service I have had over the last ten months. If their customer service and ability to communicate was a bit better than the present pitifully bad service they provide, they might have been able to tell me that the problems I was experiencing were due to work being done at the exchange, rather than wasting my time with useless parrot-speak.

I'm getting 0.5Mb/s right now and yet my browser response resembles that
for a >2Mb/s session.
I suspect that this is because Orange had been doing maintenance on their
servers last night, so they're delivering better throughput even though
my line speed is poor. I think this because I experienced an extended period
of connection authentication failures last night whilst the ADSL was OK.
Digits crossed for a speed boost, although I may still migrate after my exams
are out of the way next month. Perhaps the exchange upgrades are in
preparation for their IP-TV rollout...?

Well, I appear to have been capped at 0.5Mb/s today, although throughput
seemed better than I would have expected from that speed. I'll post here
again only if I'm upgraded > 2.7 Mb/s.
hello all. i'm in the basingstoke area, and my line went down saturday night, and was still down all day sunday.
i got this message from Orange prior to the line going down:
"We would also like to inform you that currently, there is some emergency
maintenance work in progress on the Broadband LLU network that will
cause some customers to lose service on the 28/04/2007 and on
29/04/2007."
not checked my line today yet as i'm at work , but i'll report back this evening if i too notice a speed increase.
Im still getting really bad speeds and stuff, but a friend of mine is also on Orange llu, on the same exchange as me, and he's getting 700kb/s+ So i dunno whats going on there i would have thought all llu lines on that exchange would be upgraded at the same time
I'm currently only on 1MB speed, but they ran a speedtest and they say I should get 6.5MB. Is this an actual speedtest, or have they used some tool to predict my speed, because on the "upgrade my package" web page it says I will 5MB?
And if they ran a proper speedtest to my house and I am on 1MB line, does this mean I am already on the LLU circuit, but not actually upgraded, or will they move me to the LLU circuit? (According to dslzone, my exchange does have an LLU presene for Orange)
Sorry for question, but I was wondering why the difference between the 2?
