First post here, but i have been reading the horror stories for sometime! I am finally giving in now like many others, as i simply cannot take the connection dropouts when playing online games. I have generally no problems surfing, but imagine what happens playing half life 2 online with a connection like this:
(this is a good night)
My question is, after i telephone Orange to cancel, to they immediately cut the line and then send the MAC within 5 days? Or what? Also, how do they send the MAC? Email? Any further info would be greatly appreciated
I want to transfer over to my new isp (to be BT) as smoothly as possible without missing too much net time!
No dont get them to cancel, if you do they cant provide a MAC, just simply ask for your MAC, and be on your way
When your new isp use the MAC and connect you, you will be disconnected frm Orange automatically
I sheep, thanks for the advice.
Last time i rang, they informed me that they could only give me a LLU MAC. Was i BS'd?
I got my MAC today which was a LLU I phoned BT to ask about it and they said it was ok and they could deal with it. I should be switched over next Wednesday

Sorta, most of the Orange staff probably arent aware LLU MAC's can be used to migrate to a non LLU line, either that or they're just being stubborn and akward and trying to get you to stay, but dont listen, insist you want your MAC, it will work fine with BT
i've noticed a few isps that have free migration offers. all they need is your MAC.
for example, Zen Internet have an online sign up process - and free migration - but one of the form entries is your MAC address
Thanks guys! Well, i'll try and get my MAC tomorrow (altho i guess it will take them a while maybe). So BT will take an LLU MAC then! Yippee Do you think their online system will take it?
