I was rung by Orange a few days ago and informed that I was to receive a free upgrade to 2Mb from the 1 Mb start-up package due to my brand loyalty; I've had relatively trouble-free service with Wanadoo and Orange for the last year. A couple of days ago, the connection started dropping on me after viewing one or two pages at most. I rang the helpline and tried all their tips concerning the set up of the modem (a SpeedTouch) but this has not solved the problem. I noticed that I am on the 2Mb speed now. Has anyone had a similar problem or knows what is going on?

this is so common.
all my probs started when i was upgraded to 2 mb. connection dropped regularly. eventually i got them to reduce my speed back down to 0.5mb and have never lost connection. pretty slow though, so armed with my MAC code i am having Sky installed on sunday. hope this proves better than Orange.
pains me though as i've been with freeserve then wanadoo since dial up days and was very happy with their service,

How do I get them to downgrade me? How long does it take? Can't I have my 1mb back
You go through the normal process of testing the line, if speed is thought to be the problem then it'll initiate a downgrade to sort it out.

What do I tell them to make them do line tests? They just blame my PC.
Are you guys getting the amazing 0721 error as well?
not had a 0721 code, but have to say that since downgrading to 0.5mb speed i've had no problems at all. but still moving from Orange as they cannot get my speed any higher and that is a joke.
