Phoned customer service tonight to get my MAC code after being kept waiting for half an hour I was eventually put through to some one who wanted to get some tech to ring me back tomorrow but I told him I was not interested I just wanted my MAC code at that point the phone just went dead he had hung up.
Is there some other way to get my MAC code they could keep this up for weeks and it is costing me a fortune. All I want to do is leave.

Tell them nicely that you want a MAC if they get awkward tell them they have to give you a MAC within 5 days if they dont give it to you mention you will have no alternative but to go to the ISPA and Ofcom.

I've been having these problems for a month. My knowledgeable friend has visited me and says that it looks like some of the outbound mail servers are working and some aren't.
I've called Orange tonight and they've failed to solve the problem and also were not helpful at giving a MAC code, and the line went dead after 65 minutes. I called again and after another 20 minutes promised to send a MAC code by email in 2 - 5 days.
I plan to transfer to Demon - one person said that they entered the MAC code on the Demon website and they wouldn't accept it, the other said that they'd never heard of Demon.
I rang them back, waited another half hour and eventually spoke to some one who was a little symphatic and said I would receive my MAC in the next 48 hours. Will just wait and see now.
same email problems here for me too last week. sometimes i could send via smtp.orange , other times not. very up and down for the two days i was working from home last week.
sounds like they were having major smtp server problems.
Oh look...another completely useless answer back from Orange:
We apologise for the inconvenience caused to you.
However to inform you that FTP My Site access is restricted to our own
access customers. As we add additional capacity to the service, new IP
ranges are produced and allocated each time a member logs in.
Unfortunately, we are experiencing a delay in getting those new IP
addresses added to the system. As a result, some of our customers are
having problems updating their sites as the IP address they are being
allocated when logging in is not being recognised. We cannot update the
site or add a link, however, we can delete it if you confirm this is the
action you want us to take.
If you have any further queries then please do not hesitate to get in
contact with us again.
....and why would I want to delete it !?!?!? (Bloody stupid people...)
Hurray! I thought I was going round the bend - my email hasnt been working properly for weeks and Orange Help kept on telling me it was my computer - I was beginning to believe them too, until I found this forum. I am so frustrated - if any other product performed this badly, there would be an outcry! I have been paying 27.99 per month for the last 3 years, until I discovered that they offer my service for 19.99 - they tell me that it is my fault - I should have checked for new offers!!!!!! They have reduced it, apparently upgraded me to 8meg - not that it is noticeable - oh, and they cannot even provide a server that works. Any advice on changing?

A 3 year customer must be rare for Orange these days and what a way to treat you they really couldn't give a sh*t ask for a MAC code don't let them fob you off with feeble excuses not to give you one they have to provide you with one within 5 days and watch your problems disappear after you switch providers.

I am so glad I changed to Waitrose. I am able to enjoy sending emails straightaway and fast Broadband speed. The emails go straightaway unlike Orange when they do send, they take ages.
