I m so upset since Friday! Have a PPP Server down issue....
It was really a nightmare to have my BB connection: 2 months with the great technical support of Orange, it worked well during 2 months and one again a problem.
I m really afraid when I read the different posts about this subject. A colleague of mine stopped with Orange few weeks ago because of the same issue...
I know what will go on the next few days: "have u well plugged....have u changed your filters....have you reset the livebox....maybe it s a PB with your equipment..."...
As the last time they will say the problem is on my side and not their one....this time I will ask directly to speak to the escalation team, it s thanks to that I managed to fix my initial problem.
And to conclude be carefull when they offer you some free months and this kind of thing....I paid every month with them....maybe a letter will work! Because by phone it s all the time, no worries it s an automatic process, it will be good from the next month!
when i press disconnect, it says "synchronised" then when i press connect, after trying to connect to the PPP server it evenutally says "PPP server down"
what does that mean? I've called them up twice, they're doing a "line check" whatever that is, and also are saying there are planned engineering works/upgrades happening at my exchange.
The annoying this was is that it was working, then i unplugged it all to tidy up the cabling, plugged it all back in (exactly the right way - i checked) and then i get this error.
that sounds like my problem as well. my router (i use a tiny linksys wireless/router/hub combo box rather than that enormous doorstop of a LiveBox) reported that the ADSL line was fine, but it just couldnt not log in and get an ip addy.
which tells me that its a PPP server problem.
happened for 4 hours on Friday, and then again from 11pm last night to 8.15am this morning. (not checked since as i'm at work now...)
if it IS an exchange upgrade issue, then surely its not too big a deal to put that information slap bang on the main Orange home page?
I had the same issue at the end of March. Called tec support, went through the factory resest procedure to no avail. Had the line checked and was told there is a possible fault. It then took them 3 weeks and several phone calls to get it fixed, not to mention being told to do the same old factory reset procedure so many times i can do it with my eyes shut now. I think thats all those tec guy's know can do! I got a months refund because of the amount of downtime i had.
One week and a half on and the connection has gone down again this time showing a link down fault instead of PPP server down. Looks like it will be another call to Orange tonight when i get home from work. Such fun. I should have cancelled the last time but thought since they got it working that i'd give them another chance. So much for showing faith!
I'll have a look when I get home - but I wont have internet (unless Orange sort it) until monday when I'm back at work to reply!!
So are you saying you have had the option on your Orange live box to change it to PPPoe and now that option isnt there?
Can you remember which menu it was under? I'm getting so exasperated, I even tried another router last night and that didnt work, but it was the most basic adsl router ever, no settings to change whatsoever!
Can not find it at present. It was there 2 weeks ago.
As far as I know it's never been an option direct on the configuration you could just go in and alter. From previous threads on here there's a hidden page, adsl.html I think it was, that holds that setting. From what I remember it seemed debatable that it actually did anyhting to change those settings.
