Sorry to jump straight in with a question but here goes...
I currently have a speedtouch modem and have Three pcs running broadband and file/print sharing over a wired network using a netgear hub.
Have just signed up for a livebox but haven't changed over yet. How do i set up similar to what i have now but using the livebox rather than the speedtouch?
This should be relatively easy as long as nothing unexpected pops up.
The livebox has 2 ethernet ports so whichever PC you use the most connect directly into the livebox. The other 2 connect into the switch and then connect that into the livebox's other ethernet port. It's possible you may need an ethernet crossover cable for this depending on the the switch and livebox. (Never really found out if the livebox has auto sensing ports so can cope with either cable type as needed)
Make sure all the PC's are set to obtain IP and DNS automatically and it should all be handled by the livebox and just work.

I've got my computer connected directly to Livebox with a crossover cable, so I presume it has auto sensing.
Thanks for the replies. I can't actually try anything yet as haven't had the email from Orange yet, just had the livebax delivered.
So to summarise,
server pc connects directly to livebox (red connector) as per Orange instructions for 1 x pc
other 2 x pcs connect to hub and then connect hub to yellow connector on livebox using a crossover cable.
Change IP addresses from 192.168.0.1, 2 and 3 to auto.
Is that it?
Btw, current service usinf speedtouch has always been pretty reliable for the 5 years or so that i have been using it.
Yeah ideally that should be it or if you like static IP's on your network just change them all into the 192.168.1.xxx range, prefrably using 2-8 or 201-250 for static IP's to avoid the DHCP range.
Default gateway and DNS 192.168.1.1.
Keith could be unless your ethernet port/card can auto sense too?
Easiest option is to try patch cables with one PC through the switch into the livebox, can borrow the other cables to test that if needed. If it works then no need to worry about a crossover cable at all.
