I connected today to the Orange broadbad and it all looked like it was going fine. The software installed easily enough, then the modem said it had connected to the broadband and I thought it was all going well until- I tried to update my antivirus. I was told that it could not find the server. I then tried internet explorer, mozilla firefox and opera. Not a single one of my browsers could find the server. I called tech support and she tested the line, it all appeared ok. Next she had me reset my internet explorer to find nothing changed. All she was then able to tell me was that I need to unistall internet explorer and reinstall it. Can anybody give me some different advice as I can't see why internet explorer would stop the two other browsers from working.

If you think you are connected then the answer is as follows:
UNABLE TO ACCESS WEB PAGES
USB Speedtouch 330 Modem syncs up OK and both lights are solid green, you can log on OK but cannot access many websites and in some cases (eg hotmail) they cannot send/receive emails from a local client using pop3 and smtp.
The cause of this is incorrect network adapter Maximum Transmission Unit or MTU setting.
Thanks for the reply keith. I will try changing the MTU settings. One quetsion though - do you think this could be the reason that I can't access any websites? rather than as the article suggests just some websites?

Also open Internet explorer and click tools >internet options>connections and make sure your modem is there and make sure "Always dial my default connection" is checked then click apply then ok.
As already said the modem might not have installed correctly.
