I didn't get a MAC code from Orange because they said that BT would not accept a LLU MAC. Now I have the problem where I have no Internet at all because I've cancelled but I can't sign up for anyone else because Orange are still on the line. Is there a quicker way I can get rid of Orange? I want to join BT so should I phone them for help or phone Orange to kick them up the @rse?!
I too never got a MAC code when I left Orange last year.
I got sick of waiting as they kept messing me around not sending it.
Basically after you cancel your broadband they have 10 working days to remove the marker off your line.
After this you can complain to them and also ISPA.
Don't just threaten them though - do make a complaint to ISPA to hopefully get things moving.
Once the marker is off your line you can go to any ISP you wish.
I went to Idnet who are absolutely fantastic. Had them since last September and cannot fault them at all.
Also I ordered the broadband before the marker was off my line and so as soon as it was removed Idnet set up my new connection.
Yes I ordered my new broadband as soon as I cancelled with the nightmare Orange.
Idnet connected me as soon as I was free of the line marker.
This way it means things are connected ASAP so you're not waiting any longer than necessary.
When you do order broadband some providers may say 'there is a service existing on your line' or similar which means you can't go ahead with the setup.
It depends on who you go with really, they're all different.
I would advise ringing Orange and getting a date off them when it will be removed.
Like I said before they are only allowed 10 working days to get it off and with it being Orange you cannot rely on them being efficient.

just wait for the cease to complete (up to 10 working days from when the account was closed) then the line will be clear. BT would be unlikely to accept any LLU MACOrange can provide.
