I have it confirmed in numerous emails the limit for downloads is 50GB.
It depends on your package, and how long you've been with them apparently. Older (previous Wanadoo) customers on "unlimited" get 50 gigs FUP. People on 8 meg get 30 gigs absolute with no FUP (it's not an unlimited package). I have all this in writing.
That said, with Orange's track record for accuracy and customer service, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest should that be completely different to what someone else has been told
Following confusion over whether unlimited is 40 or 50GB limit I have asked them to e-mail me the details of what the FUP limit is on the Unlimited Broadband package. Here's the response...

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your email.
I can confirm that with the recommended download usage for the current
package that you are being supplied on is up to 40GB per month (from
billing date to billing date)
If you have any further queries then please do not hesitate to get in
contact with us again.
Kind Regards
John

Looks like either Orange have lowered the limit, have different limits for different people or don't even know themselves. Oh and I'm an old customer (soon to be ex Customer) from the days of Freeserve/Wanadoo whom I never had issue with.
I have 5 emails from them confirming it is 50gb, one from only 4 weeks ago.
It does look like they are reducing it, why aren't Orange customers told about this or even that there is a limit.
How can a limit be enforced that no-one is aware of or is not staetd anyway within Oranges FUP? It is like having a stretch of road with no speed limit signs and then booking people for going over the speed limit!!

A petition calling on the Prime Minister to take action over broadband services that claim to be unlimited but actually restrict customers' usage has appeared on the 10 Downing Street website.
I just got my MAC code out of them and miraculously it appears to be valid. I'm off to ADSL24's 30GB/300GB Peak/Off-Peak package as soon as they process my order.
Hopefully a decent ISP who state what their limits are unlike these disreputable SOB's.

Well I've got to say i'm already impressed with ADSL24 and Entanet.
Yesterday I applied for a migration with my MAC code at 3:55pm I got an order confirmation at 3:59pm with a note saying that I would shortly get a further email from Entanet's billing department which I needed to action in order to complete the order.
That email appeared at 5:50pm and I quickly went through the initial payment by credit card and set up my monthly direct debit etc.
At 6:26pm I had a PDF file of my direct debit order.
At 10:48pm (!) I had an email back from Adsl24 again giving me all my account, login, email, and ftp access details and a migration date of the 19th April.
I'm already able to login to my account and email account.
Now I just have to wait until the 19th and see what happens. If the migration and training go as smoothly as the signup I will be a very happy man!
I've always understood the fair usage policy at Orange to be on the 40 gig mark.
Not exactly "unlimited" then, fair usage or not. Orange are blatantly misleading people with catchy terms
this kind of thing occurs across the board, it's not just Orange. Perhaps Ofcom should clamp down more on the broadband industry for misleading advertising. Having said that, I saw a Virgin Media poster on a bus stop on the way home from work informing me that if Virgin Media didn't bring me happiness then I could get my money back! Hope the boys down in Orange marketing don't get any 'new' ideas!
