I have been with my ISP (Orange) since the early days of Freeserve. Up until now I have been very happy, but since Orange have taken over I've had nothing but problems. I am now at my wits end and not sure whether to persevere with them or leave. My problem is I can only access a limited number of websites, this one being one of the few I can get to. Sites like Ebay, MSN etc just will not load. I can send and receive email ok. I have made several frustrating phone calls to Orange and cannot get any sense out of them. Because I am using a Belkin router they seem to think it is my settings that is causing the problem. So I changed the settings to what I thought the nice Indian lady told me and guess what still no joy. I am not particularly computer minded but if I can access some websites surely my router is working correctly?
Can anyone make any suggestions please, I just cannot face another phoned call to Orange customer services, they last one left me in tears of frustration.
Also is it necessary to obtain a MAC code from them in order to switch ISP's? What would happen if I don't get a MAC code?
I think other people have been having the same problems as you, and it may be something to do with the routing of the service (Oranges fault, not yours)
As for changing ISP, if you wish to do it with no disruption to your service, then yes, you will need a MAC code.
You have to speak to customer services to get a MAC, and not listen to a word they say. They have 5 working days to provide you with you MAC code inline with new regulations.
Phone everyday and check on the progress of your MAC code.
If you don't get a MAC and cancel your service, you could be waiting for upto 3 weeks to get Orange's marker removed from your line.
