I seem to have a problem sending emails to Hotmail addresses. They leave my outbox (Mozilla Thunderbird) OK,I get no error messages but the intended recipients never get the mail. It is fine when I send out other emails.
Is this a known issue with Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange??

I've just tested one to an MSN address myself, and it worked perfectly (and was there in the time it took for me to log in to my Hotmail account).
However, I frequently find that mail from any of the addresses I use - Gmail, Hotmail or Orange - does get labelled as junk, whether by Orange, MSN, or the Outlook junk filter.

Mine *is* a Freeserve address! Possibly they've blocked certain addresses, but I'd have thought that mine would have been identified if that were the case - judging by the number of bounce messages I get it's in pretty regular use by spammers.
I'm having the same problems. I'm using MS Windows Live Desktop, having no problems sending to email addresses other than Hotmail. This seems to have happened just recently, It was working a coupld of weeks ago. ANy ideas?
I've started to use gmail, faster and more reliable than Orange.
I noticed some of my emails did not get through too.
I'll just leave the freeserve address to collect spam(nearly 100 a day).
I've had to remember to send certain emails using my Yahoo address - Its a real pain.
I'm no expert on emails but I tried to set up the Yahoo account on Thunderbird so I could send to Hotmail addresses, but that wouldn't work so I have to log in to the web based service to reply/send to one or two people.
Is there no way round it as I don't want to have to change my current Orange (Freeserve) address which fortunately doesn't get buried in spam.

I had problems with my emails not reaching Hotmail in Jan/Feb. After emailing Hotmail and sending their reply to Orange, I got the following reply:
Quote:
Over the past few weeks, we've identified a number of accounts which have been seriously abusing the mail service and which have unfortunately increased the possibility of our mail servers being listed on these blacklists. We're currently in the process of resolving this situation and are confident that this will have a positive affect on the current blacklists shortly.
However, whilst we're continually doing everything in our power to improve the situation, its ultimately the decision of the blacklisting agencies to remove us from any such lists.
So obviously Orange knew they were being blocked by Hotmail. I've just checked my Hotmail.co.uk account again and my message was placed in Junkmail even though the message was empty! At least it is now reaching my account.
Why Orange don't just pull the plug on those abusing the service I don't understand
The problem is not specific email addresses being blocked, it's the entire Orange / Wannadoo / Freeserve ip ranges that are being blocked, and by lots of spam catchers and mail services.
It's been happening for years and they've always made it very hard for you to send mail out via any other server, luckily, as it's not just Orange that are blocking mail sending via port 25 from anyone other than themselves, a lot of mail services have started offering mail sending via port 24, 26, 2525, 2500 and 587
Just do a google search and you'll quickly find one
