i have been with Orange six weeks my speed was supposed to be 6 meg and a talk facility through live box and both didn't work made 12 phone calls to service support no luck. so reported it to ispa and to ofcom they told me ask for a dead lock letter . i was rung by Orange 4 times and told this would be sorted before a deadlock letter was issued .and they phoned me Tuesday too tell me its all working yeah yeah. But to my amazement it is running at 6 meg speed and talk facility is now fine. hooray. so if anybody has a problem a threat like this may work hope its a help to someone. if you need help *post a message here * .

Deadlock letter normally seen when complaining about banks. Before the regulatory body will deal they require a deadlock letter.
Basically you make a complaint and the company you are complaining about can not or will not sort it out. The complaint is not sorted and the company issue a deadlock letter saying they are taking no further action.
It is as Kieth has described. In Oranges case they will not issue such a letter. They will continue to say they are working on your problem. Under their complaints procedure you can take your problem to the independent adjudicator without a deadlock letter if they have not sorted your complaint after 13 weeks. However, you can only do so if you have followed and exhausted the complaints procedure in the proper manner. Seems like everythings stacked in the favour of Orange.
