It would be very useful if everyone who has migrated to another ISP psot their stories here.
*Reason for moving.
*How they moved.Getting MAC Code or LLU Code etc.
*How long it took for their connection to be stopped and the line cleared for another ISP.
*Who the new ISP is?
*How long it took for them to get connected with their new ISP.
*Their present speed levels and expirience with their new ISP.
These information will help pave the way for anyone who is planning to QUIT Orange.
*Reason for moving.
Total lack of service since exchange was unbundled, was faster to dial-up at times Had proof of previous speeds and was able to show connection was getting worse the more they tried to fix it!
Asked for a MAC code, was told account had already been cancelled and therefore could not be provided. They also said that it was probably best as they had problems with providers accepting their MAC codes.
*How long it took for their connection to be stopped and the line cleared for another ISP.
Just over a week for line to be cleared, however connection continued to work with Orange until power was lost on router! Seems they disable your password, so as long as you don't restart router you can stay connected until the last minute
*How long it took for them to get connected with their new ISP.
I was connected within a week once line was free of Orange, so total downtime should have been around 2 weeks, in reality was just over 1 week as explained above.
*Their present speed levels and expirience with their new ISP.
Super fast although they do currently have performance issues with youtube.com (currently being resolved with purchase of new link.) Otherwise, I'm synching at 19meg and downloading at around 14-17 meg. I can have 10 downloads going all at 200Kbs, or one download at 1.5-2Mbs if the site can handle the speed. Therefore it's obvious the problem was with the line/my equipment... I should have listened to Orange lol.

I moved because when it changed to Orange how a name change can effect the service is beyond me but it went downhill quicker than Eddie Eagle to leave this dire company i had to go to the ISPA to get a MAC off these people lucky for me it was a valid MAC as my new ISP IDNet warned me every MAC that was submitted from Orange was invalid since then ive migrated to Be* only because Be* had a good reputation the speeds was faster for the same money.

*Reason for moving. - high pings when playing online games, ping spikes, etc.
*How they moved. Cancelled by me after argument withTech service, being given false promises on at least two occasions and no forward movement in a complaint I made
*How long it took for their connection to be stopped and the line cleared for another ISP. - Connection stopped overnight and line cleared after a further 5 working days
*Who the new ISP is? Orange ... just kidding, it's Sky Unlimited package which costs me an extra £10 on my monthly Sky bill and has something like a 75Gb monthly usage cap
*How long it took for them to get connected with their new ISP. 8 working days from order
*Their present speed levels and experience with their new ISP. 6.5/6.6 download and 0.6 upload, no

We can stick them all on this thread.
Any suggestions will be welcomed. Everyone leave Orange
Had to move following disastrous unrequested upgrade to Orange 8meg...failed to maintain connection for more than 30 secs at a time at worst. Called Orange who, to be fair, tried for about 30 secs to tempt me to stay by offering me free broadband etc but when I pointed out that I'd much sooner pay a bit more for something that actually worked, they didn't put up much of a struggle and emailed MAC code nwd. Went with Be, move was pretty much seamless. Almost no interruptions since. Nearly cried the other day when connection went down for first time in two weeks without warning but, not only was it back within hours, I also got an email and text msg informing me of the 'unplanned outage', apologising and explaining the cause of the problem (not theirs). Orange, to whom I have always felt 'brand-loyal', should take note...
Guess reasons for moving will be the same as most, sloooow speeds and regular disconections. Had my obligatory experience with crap customer service and technical support and really wasn't impressed. Orange are just an all round s**t* isp.
Requested LLU MAC on 14/03/07 and was emailed the next day, though as was sent to the wrong email took me a few more days to realise this and retrieve it on 19/03. Signed up for migration to Newnet on same day and went live today with no downtime. Currently getting between 5 and 6 MB download. Looking far better than Orange ever did. I did have to speak to cs about a slight delay in going live and the call took 4 mins to an english guy who knew what he was talking about. So far so good .
Just received this email, made me chuckle and thought I'd share it. The final line cracks me up

Haha LOVE the title !! Orange "deserters" ? methinks its Orange who are deserting their Customers.
No connection
Slow speeds
Muppets in technical support
Greedy accounts dept
Ignorant Customer "care"
the list is continuous
I really cannot see why anyone is staying with this lot, their service stinks and the LLU speed is non-existant, but of course Mr Abensur or wotever his name is has promised on live tv to sort out everyones problems within 5 days .haha ... right !! well he only has a day left lol
Are these people for real or what?
COME ON Orange WAKE UP TO THE REAL WORLD AND PROVIDE YOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS WHAT THEY ARE PAYING YOU FOR.
Forgot to mention (although i have mentioned this in other threads) i HAD to cancel my account (i was given no alternative) as it was the only way to leave a non-existant service after they refused me a Migration Code not once but TWICE, they of course have no record of this !! what a suprise ! ..... actually im not suprised 'cos these idiots just make it up as they go along!
I think they forgot that a MAC request is always the first thing people ask for when requesting to leave and with all the problems i had all they kept saying was we cannot give you a MAC as you are still under contract ......SOOOO???
So Orange, ISPA are now escalating this with CISAS. Your failure to provide a usable connection and failure to request my permission to "upgrade" my line etc was not acceptable. Your failure to agree to put me back onto IPStream was not acceptable. Your failure to rectify my connection problems was not acceptable. All your failures of call-backs and engineer visits was not acceptable.
and the list goes on ......
*Reason for moving.
To put it simply, Orange offered me the worst possible service I have ever encountered. Also the connection was terrible.
*How they moved.Getting MAC Code or LLU Code etc.
I did something easier, I told Orange to put a cease on my line and I moved to Cable so this didn't matter to me.
*How long it took for their connection to be stopped and the line cleared for another ISP.
*Reason for moving.
LLU - enough said!
*How they moved.Getting MAC Code or LLU Code etc.
Took two attempts to get MAC code
*Who the new ISP is?
Be*
*How long it took for them to get connected with their new ISP.
Transfer scheduled 10 days after signing up to Be*, actual process took <15mins
*Their present speed levels
7.5
*and expirience with their new ISP.
Refreshingly good - a company that knows how to treat a customer!
From sometimes dial up speeds to 7.5, NO dropped lines - was getting as many as 12/13 per hour
A BREATH OF FRESH AIR!
Orangeless and happy..........................
