...I started off on Freeserve with my old, trusty Amiga 1200, you could sign up for a username and password online, and ten you had to find the account settings (modem, email etc.) from somewhere else because the system was designed to automatically set up Windows.
There were only a couple of specialist ISPs that explicitly supported Amigas, even back then (I think Demon might have done as well, and it was quite popular amongst Amiga users).
Thanks for posting the help for Apple users. One problem - the web site "configuration.adsl" that you mention in your document does not seem to exist any more. I tried looking on Inventel's web site for help, but could not register my Livebox there - did not accept my serial numbers.

This 'site' is hosted on the Livebox itself. Try http://192.168.1.1/ instead. You need to have either a network cable connecting the MAC and the Livebox or working wireless connection first. The Livebox doesn't need to be connected to your phone line for you to access the Livebox configuration pages. If you are still having problems post back with your MAC OS version and the Web Browsers you have available. Good luck.
It's a shame that Wanadoo cannot just publish the MAC setup instructions, as it's not complicated.
You're assuming that they employ anybody competent enough to realise how simple it is. Oh, wait. Orange doesn't actually employ anyone. They just outsource everything to 3rd parties and cash the cheques.
the old firmware, the old blue themed one, had problems communicating with the livebox... the new firmware updates, the one to the Orange branded pages, has fixed this error.
although they dont specifically train people how to support macs i`m sure that more than a few people will be able to offer help in this area....
its just probably a question of getting through to the right person.
orange DO now support MAC OS. But good luck finding someone who can get you through to the MAC team.... I'll see what i can do about getting a direct number.

I have finally got my MAC connected to the livebox along with my Three housemates' PCs...it took forever though!
I found the Orange helpline to be completely unhelpful:
First I chose the option for speaking to the specialist MAC department - they told me I needed to ring the livebox department. I waited on the phone for ages to get through to the livebox department - they told me I needed the MAC department and gave me a different number to phone. I phoned this number and was told that I was through to the dial-up support for macs and that I needed to phone the number I originally got through to. Finally, I phoned through again to the first department and was again told that they couldn't help me - apparently I needed the livebox department...at this point I gave up!
I managed get connected using the Bramely Apple instructions (So thanks for that! )
I have been very tempted to change to a different ISP but it's just easier to stay with Orange than have to wait for a new connection to be set up!
Hi,
Orange has Soft Launched Apple MAC support for Livebox (Wired & Wireless). Call 0870 010 2462 IVR options: 1-5-3-1.
Regards...
The future is bright, the future is Orange...

And for every minute you're holding Orange is making money. Say no to 0870! Website of the same name suggests calling 01642 732785

I'm sorry all right. After my last post my Livebox stopped working. The @ light is flashing all the time. Have connected with a modem for the moment. I did try the MAC helpline (50p a minute!!) but they could not help but said I should call 0870 0102462 and select option 1531. But that would be another 50p a minute. But she did say using my Orange Mobile calling 150 and pressing option 22531 would be free. But my Orange mobile (pasgo) doesn't go through to 150.
Please just suggest how to get Livebox running again.
