I've been watching closely the behavior of my super fast half meg bb and I believe what others here have also experienced:
From the periods of 6pm to 10pm my speed is reduced to 30kbs
Orange seem to be on a mission to p!ss off as many customers as they can. Not only can they not provide any faster speeds, they want to add insult to injury by throttling a half meg line... ADMIN EDIT: REMOVED LAST COMMENT - Please refrain from using such language.
Yer that was the MAX i got too ..... that was when it actually connected at all of course which was only about 3 times in 2 weeks !! then quickly disconnected as soon as i got anywhere
Greedy, brainless, inconsiderate people! They dont deserve any business from paying customers.
Orange dont need to give anyone reasons for doing what they are doing !! ... they are Orange !! ... LAW UNTO THEMSELVES APPARENTLY.. dont you realise that ...
They get everyone to sign up then screw them on their connection ... thats Orange "traffic shaping" as you put it ...
Pay £20 a month for something that doesnt work of course! what more do you expect from people who dont know what they are doing?
are you telling me that Orange are purposley reducing customers speeds during peak times?
Yes this is what I am saying, theres been a few here which have also experienced this. Whether this is specific to exchanges i.e. managing already congested exchanges, or something which applies nationwide, others have yet to agree/disagree.
I've not asked Orange about this, and neither do I have any intention of wasting my money on phoning them. Their record of confirming anything which might suggest impedance of service is lackluster at best. The only way to find out is for people to post here saying whether or not they are experiencing reduced speeds during peak times on LLU.

From what I have read here I think you are correct on specific exchanges.
My speed is fairly constant 2.2 - 2.7.
Of course where they are getting away with it is that most people don't know what speed they are getting anyway and don't know how to find out.
