Yo Smallbrainfield I dont know that it was due to eager beavers, or a bug in forums software; the postings were to eratic to be the work of human hands but it seems to have settled now ... so Cheers man
Just joined the forum and reading the posts it seems that wanadoo really have a connection speed issue, ive been with wanadoo since broadband was realeased and never had any issues but on April 1st my 2 meg connection that always got 1800kbps + download speeds dropped from anything from 900kbps to 400kbps. The first thought was a line fault but BT confirmed this being not the case, its frustrating that their connection speeds can drop so rapidly and so many people are reporting the same issues.
MISTAKE No4
LISTEN TO ADVICE AND FOLLOW IT, MANY TIMES, COSTLY MISTAKE.
AND VERY,VERY,VERY,COMA INDUCING, NOT TO SAY HEART ATTACK INDUCING WHEN SPEAKING TO SOMEONE AS HEART RATE RISES TO DANGEROUS LEVELS WHILST TRYING TO REMAIN CALM
MISTAKE No5
STILL BELIEVEING THAT BEING A LOYAL CUSTOMER WILL GET YOU ANY WHERE.
MISTAKE No6
BELIEVEING THAT WHERE THERES LIFE THERES HOPE? NOT IF YOU HAVE BROADBAND WITH WANADONT.
MISTAKE No7
NOT INSTALLING ANTI-WANADOO!
(IF THERE IS SUCH A THING CAN SOMEONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW.)
MISTAKE No8(POSSIBLY THE BIGGEST!)
STILL GIVING WANADOO TIME TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM BEFORE SWITCHIG PROVIDERS. (STUPID I KNOW BUT I WAS BROUGHT UP TO FORGIVE OTHERS WHO CANNOT FORGIVE THEMSELVES.)
ALSO EVERYONE DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE EVEN WANADOO!
(DON'T WORRY I HAVE BOOKED MYSELF IN FOR THERAPY AND COUNSELLING SESSIONS)
THE ONLY MISTAKE NOT MADE IS FINDING THIS WEBSITE (THANKYOU WEBUSER ISSUE 134 ) AND ALLOWING ME TO HAVE THIS RANT AND LOWER MY BLOOD PRESSUE.
THANKYOU TO THE WEBSITE FOUNDER AND ALSO TO ANYONE WHO READS THIS AND FINDS IT EASES THERE PAIN.
Been with Wanadoo (Freeserve) since 2001 and have to say they have deteriorated considerably, especially since the tech service switched to India.
Line speed downloading is currently running at 43 kbps and no matter how many phone calls I make, the response from tech support is always the same - repeatedly monotonous set of questions and answers and NO SOLUTION.
I would advise everyone to do what I have done, call customer services, demand compensation and cancel your account. There are many other ISP's available in the UK.
im not sure with the old stingray, but i think tha that old modem has issues with speeds from 1MB and ive had customers needing speedtouch thompson modems, as stingray cant handle faster speed, but maybe im wrong, as stingray mgiht be able to run 4mb as far as im aaware, i just know sometimes people need the get a better one as stingray was not fast enough, kept cutting off, like how you explain it.

From what I recall of the training -
The Stingrays can (theoretically) take up to 2mb. Anything over, you need a firmware update. that'll get you to 4mb.
Over 4mb, you need a newer modem/livebox.
The Hardware for the stingray wasn't designed for massive speeds, as they were probably seen as "Far off in the distance" or some poop
Garlands CS Agent - Check your Knowlegdebase, as the article should Be Broadband. if not, report it to your TL / DM.
