Hi, I spoke to a very helpfull lady at Orange tonight (on the freephone number, thanks to saynoto0870.com), she told me that 9 out of 10 Deadboxes can not get connected to the Talk service.
I am talking to trading standards tomorrow about the fact that Orange are selling a service they know that does not work. Damn crooks.

I would be a bit dubious about what you have been told. When mine was not working (0845 number) I was told that it only affected these and not the geographical numbers such as 0131, etc. From what I've read it is the 0845 numbers that appear to be the main problem and I would certainly question the figure of 9 out of 10 talk connections not working.

This is one of Oranges problems, no one knows the truth or will tell it. I was told by Talk and Wireless last week that the problem is in France with the servers there. Orange laugh at that saying it has nothing to do with France. All I do know for the truth is that I have been sold a package with the full knowledge by Orange that it does not work properly. Mis-selling at its best.

To be honest, at the time they provide the livebox I don't think anyone at Orange know whether the talk service with that particular unit will work. Its all a bit hit and miss. They just seem to wait for the customer to tell them wheter talk service is not working.
It took 3 complaints to ISPA to get my talk service working properly so its not strictly a case of not being able to fix it. It just requires someone to take the bull by the horns and find a resolution as they did with me.
i would have thought by now that the majority of people in here realised that NOTHING Orange provide for broadband is working !!
They supposedly "upgrade" everyone then everyone gets either very slow speed or non existant internet.
They provide Crapbox and THAT doesnt work either !
U ask to leave ... they REFUSE you a MAC code (as in my case)

Are you 100% sure about that? have you checked your stats and line speed?
I think The Media need to visit your house to see how yours works and millions of others doesnt? In fact perhaps Orange should visit your house and TRY to fathom out how yours works, not that they could of course but perhaps, just perhaps, they should be checking your settings to find out what they did wrong haha
Id keep quiet about it if i were you mate otherwise they will stitch you up too !

am I missing something here?! I thought Orange had around one million broadband customers? Seem to remember an article on thinkbroadband.com only a little while ago.
Yeah it is roughly 1 million for broadband. They also still have people using dialup and are in a bunch of other countries, I'm sure I've heard the figure of 22 million banded around though I can't be certain of that.
Thats approximately 1 million more than they should have then in my view.
Their attitude towards the people who keep them in a job is attrocious.
They dont deserve ANY business.

Orange are utterly hopeless in pretty much all areas.......except extorting money,and tendering bull***t.In these areas they are without doubt World class.
I totally agree Ridgeback, its about time people learnt not to deal with these idiots, they have so far cost me a fortune in expensive telephone costs and money they have taken from my account without permission for a service they could not provide, i just wonder how many other people they have done this to and got away with it?
I for one will fight them all the way, hopefully it will cost them a LOT more than the amount they stole from me.
How on earth can these people expect payment for something that DID NOT and still DOES NOT work?

Its like buying a Maserati or Ferrari, lifting the bonnet and finding the garage had replaced the engine with a scooter engine without telling the customer..... would you still pay for the car?? Id take it back and demand my money back !!
