Right then, having signed up and THEN started reading how bad the service was I was pretty worried that I was going to be pretty disappointed.
I may stand corrected after a few weeks, but for now it's looking good. Peak times I get a d/l speed fo approx 300-400k but this morning, off peak, I got a d/l speed of around 800k.
I am using my own netgear router, using the settings it has assigned me by auto detection.
I never had any problems with my download speed (I get around 210kb per second which is good) but in the evenings, this is not stable and can drop to 30kb on some occasions unless I disconnect and reconnect the broadband.
For those that find this difficult to understand, thats a 10mb file in around 12 seconds.

Why are you all saying that this is a good speed??? On an 8Mb connection you should be getting about 5000Kbps - 6000Kbps. Am i missing something??
Yes - you are - quite a bit (pun) actually. You're getting confused between kilobytes and kilobits. One is 8 times the value of the other. the same can be said for megabits and megabytes. Look it up. the significance is the case of the K. you are stating yours in the wrong case.
A common way to state a half meg is to say 500k (or more precisely 512k). Therefore I say 800k when I am talking about a rate of 0.8meg per second. You'll find most people who have the first clue about anything IT related speak about transfer speeds in these terms. You've clearly picked up your terms from the multitude of speedtesters you are using.
Poop, or whatever your name is, I AM a satisfied customer, for now.
1. He hasn't stated if he was ADSLMAX or LLU. My money is on ADSLMAX, and if he actually did as he stated: "started reading how bad the service was I was pretty worried that I was going to be pretty disappointed" He'd already know ADSLMAX out performs LLU by miles.
2. Which leads me to the second point. Only two posts and your acting all holier than thou? Smells of propaganda to me
3. If Chavbustah had any common sense he would have understood that my initial comments were aimed at Cobraman
4. I sincerely hope, barvmistress, that you are satisfied, because I'd really be sorry if you come back complaining of poor speeds in about, oh, say 2 weeks?
The time will come im sure when ALL Orange customers will be in this forum lol.... but i guess from Oranges point of view 2 out of almost 3000 isnt bad statistics if they have 2 customers with a working up to speed connection lol. Thats 2 more than two months ago haha
Having said that its probably cos they cancelled my contract, stole my money and used it to pay for one of them to get sorted !
