I have been with Freeserve Wanadoo since the start so thought i would sign up with Orange Broadband.
I signed up in Dec 06 & everything has gone well. No dropped connections & decent speeds.
I had a wireless connection set up to the Livebox within 10mins & life was good.
I got home from work last night & realised that the @ light on Livebox was flashing & not solid as it had usualy been. As a result i could not view any web pages.
I went into configure Livebox & it showed PPP Server Down. I did notice that my user name & pasword were not right. I corrected these then refreshed & i was connected. My connection was then ok for rest of night.
I got up this morning & all lights on Livebox were ok. I have gone to use my pc in afternoon & guess what.... I cannot view web pages & am geting the mesage PPP Server Down.
I called tech support. They said they were organising a line test so ring back in 24hrs. As i have read on the forum the line test is a bit of bs just to fob you off.
My connection has now returned after being down for last 5 hrs.
The problem i have is that i use my pc for work. I cannot afford to have my connection constantly dropping. I may wake up tomorrow & have no connection again.
I would just like to know if anyone else has had this problem & what measures, steps should i take if problem persists.
I think you will find if you read through the messages in here that this isn't an isolated case, Orange service is nothing short of shocking! They dont know how to fix any of the problems in here, believe me i know ... been there got the t-shirt and been charged for the privelage of having something that doesnt work! so be warned!
I have rang Orange today. They said that the engineers report states that testing is still in progress.
My connection has been solid all day & i've had no PPP Server errors.
I have noticed that my phone is echoing when i talk into it & there also sounds like there is interfearance on the line. I don't know if something has been done to my line or something is going on with my filters.
I have also done a few speed tests today & it stated that my connection speed was 0.5. I did some speed tests last night when my connection had returned & they were 1.5. These suggest i have lost quite alot of speed.
WOW !! half a MEG !!! wooohooo!!! your being SPOILT by Orange you realise that dont you ? .... the connection i had ( when it actually WORKED was 10kbps not like your 512 lol) oh by the way my new ISP connects at 7 meg !!! so your paltry half a meg is antiquated... ditch it while you can mate they arent worth bothering with !
