I was wondering if anyone knew the best deals around at the moment for new broadband provider.
I am currently with Orange (LLU) and was looking at changing to Sky, but they do not accept MAC codes. I need a good provider that accepts the MAC code, this is mainly because I cant afford to be offline for long because of work etc.
I dont think I have will have a problem leaving Orange because they are not providing me with the service I am paying for. I am currently on the 8meg package, but get the usual 2.7
And my line is capable of up to 8meg, got to get a new ISP as quick as possible
you are wrong about Sky not accepting MAC Codes, call them and ask them 08705 515 515 i know their website used to (not checked recently) say they didnt but apparently they do.
Give them a call mate.
Just spoke to to Sky, they have told me that they do not accept LLU MAC codes, they said they accept MAC but definitley not from LLU. They said I would have to cancel first with Orange then give them a call again. No good to me really, they said it would be approx 15 days to get my line connected. No good to me really as I cant afford to not have internet access for that long.
Are there any providers that will accept the LLU MAC code then?
why not open a dial up account in the meantime (if you only need to check email etc) until you have got the Sky broadband? once your order is placed you shud be up and running within about 7-10 days..
Alternatively i guess if they cant accept LLU MAC codes (probably wise as far as Orange is concerned) how about BT ADSL MAX?
If it was me id prefer to have the line cleared and start again cos that way Orange cant screw it up with wrong MAC codes etc.
my line speed went up from 10kb/s with Orange (when it actually connected at all of course) to 6800 kb/s with my new provider.
Says it all really doesnt it
do you see that Orange from 10 to 6800 just by changing ISP !!! i think this alone proves your network if f***ed !!
1) Get LLU MAC from Orange
2) Provide BE or a n other with MAC code, which if accepted will schedule transfer date.
3)On transfer date BB will move from old provider to new.
4)Ensure account has been cancelled by Orange.
Orange told me if they cancelled the a/c before the MAC was used, then the MAC would become invalid and I'd have to wait for the line to be ceased and reprovided by my new provider - so DO NOT CANCEL until your new broadband is running.
Orange will charge a 30 day cancellation fee, probably worth it to move on ... but considerably more if you are still within your original 12 month contract
Thanks for that, I'm not long into my 12 month contract. I'm going to cancel it without charge, they have offered me a service and was giving me a good speed. They then changed me to LLU without informing me and my line speed dropped. I believe that this is a breach of their terms and conditions. I have read a few posts where people have been allowed to leave because.....I hope it goes OK anyway
well the theiving b***rds wouldnt give me a MAC code therefore i had no choice BUT to cancel. They have now sent me a bill for well over £120 so im looking forward to seing them in court. They cannot expect ANYONE to pay for something they have not provided and more to the point CANNOT provide !!
