I am leaving Orange, thankfully this is happening on the 10th of March, but eveytime I check other ISPs website and enter my details to check the line they say there is something up with the line. I spoke with one very reliable isp over the phone and they say it is Orange who have put something on the line, bundeled it or something like that?
How can I get this undone? Should I phone them, and what to do I need to ask?
Anyone else had this problem, its basically stopping me from joining other isps, I think it costs a fair amount of money from other isps to fix it.
no I havent spoke to them about this yet, they are very stubborn, just want to know if anyone else has experienced this
We are all different - different exchanges, different distances from our exchanges etc. I would have thought that if you are of the opinion that Orange may be responsible, the first point of call would be them.... there may be a perfectly reasonable explanation!
Sounds like you may be on an LLU exchange, the other ISP you talked to may have mentioned "unbundled". When you cancel the broadband connection has to be physically disconnected so it takes a bit of time, unsually upto 10 working days. Can be anywhere within this time but usually towards the end, sounds like it's just a matter of waiting for the marker to be removed and for the sytem to be disconnected.
yeah thats it thanks elhana, do you think I should ask the for the MAC Code would this make things easier, they refused to give it to me last time and said I should just cancel
well they said to me you can either cancel with us all together or we can give you the MAC code, if they gave me the MAC code then they said I couldnt cancel?
So I gave my 30 days notice and on the 10th of this month I will hopefully be away.
Yeah the list that do accept them is growing but you always have to check if your desired provider will accept them. Also it may be free to migrate in most cases but a recent post did have a new ISP charging for the new connection, although I believe it was an LLU to LLU transfer so the ISP probably ends up paying the fee anyway.
Well Orangewouldnt give me a MAC code either, they never suggested i could give 30 days notice, they simply told me i would need to cancel my account to leave. I did this and got a bill for the privelage !! TO**ERS !!
hey guys take a look at these two links ... i think the word is spreading
