2 weeks a Broadband Unlimited user, already unhappy.
One of the prime reasons I took the package was the combination of wireless useage and free UK calls. I was assured at the time that if someone rang me on my standard BT phone number my phone would ring as normal - but oh nooooo.
Key info :
BT line works fine - remove all the livebox paraphanalia and calls in / out of the BT line are fine;
connected to TALK ok - I can make outgoing calls on TALK OK - I hear the beeps when I connect and the service (and therefore the way I have connected it up) seem OK;
However, whan someone calls my BT number my phone does not ring, so I do not know someone is trying to call me .
Have spoken to Orange Technical - have factory reset, they then blamed BT (BT line working fine!), then said it might be the Broadband lead that passes between the Livebox and filter, but still no joy.
So, has anyone any ideas because I would be very grateful for any help I can get.
Assuming you have everything connected properly (ie all other coonected is filtered apart from livebox, then as Keith says it could be filters.
As this appears to happen only when the livebox is connected then it is not the talk service but could be a faulty livebox dragging the line voltages down.
How are you setup in terms of equipment connected to master and any extensions?

You are using two phones aren't you? One connected to the livebox for the talk service and another through a filter to the BT line?
The lines are completely seperate and do not directly interact without some extra equipment/switchbox. Normally they recommend keeping 2 handsets so you can use both lines as needed.

Hi
I thought the idea was that I only needed one phone, and this phone is connected to the Livebox. When I make calls out they go through the Talk service, but when someone calls me (on my old BT number) this will ring out on that same phone so I can answer it.
Am I mistaken ?
I hope the idea isn't that I have to have two separate "networks" of phones - with one phone attached directly into the filter and NOT through the Livebox ( to accept incoming calls to my old BT number) and a separate phone plugged into the Livebox to make outgoing calls using talk ?
This would be very cumbersome - we use phones all around the house using several receivers and we want to make / receive calls from several phones. Surely I do not have to have two completely different sets of phones (one so we can take incoming calls from the BT line and one so we can make outgoing calls, but having to remember that we can only make outgoing calls on one of the two sets of phones to use TALK.. ?
If this is the case, its a bit of a dogs breakfast !
No it's not the ideal system but that's exactly how it works. You can get switchboxes to link both lines together but if you checked the BBBuyer threads on this it's extremely hit and miss with no simple reason why it does/doesn't work in most cases.

Elhana - many thanks for your help. I had rung the Orange Helpline 3 times and they hadn't been able to solve what should have been a very simple query albeit is not explained anywhere in the Orange literature / help pages.
To previous poster The Voice - i have every sympathy with the problems all users are having, but for the £19.99 pm I pay I was hoping for a better service
i have same problem Orange told me its a problem with the livebox and many others are like it well bloody well sort it they dont know if it will ever work for me so i am saying goodbye hopefully soon

Either you've got the wrong thread or misread this one. It's about requiring two phones for the talk line and BT line, not a problem as such but a technical limitation of the service and livebox.
