Hello all,
edit by Admin: We lowered the minimum speed to 6 Meg due to comments received on this post!
We would like to know if ANYONE is actually getting the 8Meg speed that is advertised so heavily by Orange...
We are fully aware that they advertise UP TO 8 Meg, but we are yet to actually find anyone on this speed... So...
If you are getting OVER 6Meg connection speed, please could you post a reply in this area with your speed test result (see our external links page for various speed test websites).
NOTE: That although your connection icon may say that you are getting a particular speed, this is not always correct - therefore, it is best to conduct a speed test - please also state the time and date of your test!
There is a separate post for those getting any other speed - so only OVER 6 Meg here please!

Given that the maximum IP Profile for 8 meg ADSLMax is 7.15 meg then I cant see anyone getting the 8meg you refer to. At best its likely to be something approaching 7.15 meg.
I stand corrected and apologise in advance if I am wrong.
Yeah as far as I know 7.15meg is the maximum on ADSL Max, although technically the connection is an 8 meg connection. The 0.85meg is, I beleive, used for modem <-> exchange communication and a degree of buffering against noise margin variations in order to prevent disconnections.
The whole industry uses "8meg" mainly because BT do. Although an ISP advertising a upt 7.15meg connection would get points for honesty many people would opt for the perceived advantage of 8meg over 7.15meg.
I had 6 to 7M until Three weeks ago when I lost my connection. Took two weeks to fix by downgrading me to 2M. The Faults Management Team said they will get me upgraded and that the 2M is just temporary, a week later I am still on 2M and no sign of an increase. As I have had 6M for over a year it must be an Orange Equipment problem. Time to move to a supplier with modern equipment that can deliver the advertised service.
Sekshi's speed history, although seems promising, seems awfully inconsistant with speeds ranging from 414-5743. I've read somewhere here of 'another' report saying they get high speeds with LLU, but I'm not convinced.
Unless there is one or two exchanges which have recently been upgraded with more up to date equipment it remains to be confirmed. Incidentally Sekshi, what is your exchange and has your exchange recently had LLU installed?
