Just to let you know I am now connecting at 8.1 meg on LLU.

It seems that my persistance has paid and Orange have listened to me.

It's a shame that it took so long but I am now a Happy Customer.

You will have to give us more info than that, so we can work out how we can improve our speeds.

Here are my stats:

Connection mode : G.DMT
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 6.4
Attenuation (dB) : 37.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 7424
ADSL status : Connected [0]

Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 7168 288

But the best speeds I can get are 2.2 - 2.7 With those stats I would expect to get around 6.

From what I have read even with best equipment and computer the best speed you will ever get is a shade over 7 - you will not get the full 8.

Please can you post your stats and a speed test.

You have gone from 1 meg to 8 meg. Increase in bandwidth will result in decrease in Noise Margin. I maybe wrong but you appeared to have been on a fixed 1 meg ADSL and are now on 8 meg LLU

These figures are not however download speeds. They are purely what the line is set to. You may well find as others have with LLU that actual download speeds are signicantly less.

Well there was me getting all excited and for nothing really.

I forgot about the profile thing and you're right, Orange are supplying way below what they should be.

I have run a couple of speedtests and here is what I got:

1134.80 Kbps ( 1.1 Mbps )
54.34 Kbps ( 0.1 Mbps )

lol

That sucks big time.

They are going to be very sorry when I am finished with them.

I wonder how they are going on reading my 8 Page Letter, or was that 2.7 pages advertised as 8? lol

I am also interested in finding out if anyone on this forum would all each write a letter regarding Orange to Ofcom?

Hello,

I have since done some more speed testing. My new figures are:

233.66 Kbps ( 0.2 Mbps )
37.75 Kbps ( 0 Mbps )

I wish I didn't say anything now, least when I was 1mb I was getting a better speed.

I am not getting any disconnects and the connection stays connected.

I should point out that nothing is using the Internet and I don't have any virus or spyware infections on my pc, netstat looks good too.

So, are the reasons I am getting such poor speed down to the ten days that the line runs for? I got the 8 Meg on Friday. Since then the connection speeds have been garbage.

I don't beleive they will get any better, I beleive that Orange cannot provide me with a service which is "fit for purpose".

The 10 day training period is only for ADSL Max connections. If there's one for LLU then they keep extremely tight lipped about it.

There is a recognised speed problem on LLU at the moment but I don't know much about what's happening with it apart from it's something majorly wrong behind the scenes.

I think we all know whats wrong.....answer............ORANGE!!
They do not have a clue how to rectify ANY of the problems in this forum which is why they are NOT providing a service to any of us. Im glad i got out when i did because another 4 weeks down the line NOBODY in here is any further forward with their problems and more to the point Orange are no nearer to solving ANY of these problems.

SUE the B****rds thats what we should all do for Breach of contract, they are NOT providing a "service to anyone and dont they just KNOW IT !!

I "upgraded" I was getting a reasonable connection before, something like

Uploads 1.5 M
Downloads 1

Now,, Now Oh my, now

uploads 139 Kbps
downloads 119 Kbps

Orange dont care so I'm gonna try to go elsewhere although I've heard that isn't so easy.

Orange suck, Big time.
