HI all
1st post on here about very very slow connection speeds with Livebox.
The usual cant use internet after about 2-3 o clock, they saying its my BT landline ! which is being fixed today and I should be guarented 6.5Mg connection then !
anyway my slow speeds started about begining Feb when apparently I was changed from Adsl to something called IBC max, I have heard of the LLU nightmare but not heard anyone mention this? is anyone else on this ?
I have unfortunatly still got about 10 months left contract with Orange so well annoyed as paying £20 month for what they described as 8 meg unlimited broadband and i am at peak times getting a pittyfull 0.3Mg !!! in my opinion its false advertising !
heres my system info any help appreciated in getting faster speeds.
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : G.DMT
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 9.4
Attenuation (dB) : 24.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 9152
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Agree with Keith, if your upload is 288 then that usually indicates LLU, local loop unbundling. This means Orange have installed their own equipment in your exchange instead of using BT's.
IBC Max - I do not think that exists - It is IPstream Max which is a BT system.
From your stats I think you are on LLU - hence low speeds

could have been that keith, couldnt understand her accent propperly, I really dont understand why they use an Asian call centre for technical assistance as she couldnt understand my regional accent either ?
anyways looks like its that which is causing all my trouble !
I apparently have to swith the livebox off later this afternoon for 15 mins to update and was guarented 6.5M. I dont think I will hold much hope of that though !
got a friend who is with Orange also getting same probs
well like I said I knew I wasnt going to get 6.5 MB so they lied again !
apparently I am on LLU which in the previous phone call they said I wasnt ?? getting 2.7 at present but about 0.5 on late afternoons.
I asked for my MAC they said yes as long as I pay off the remaing contract..10 months !!
All she kept saying was sorry it is being escalated and Orange are aware of the slow speeds issue and are trying to fx it. in fact she was starting to get a bit funny with me on the phone after I stated its them in breach of their contract by not supplying me with the promise of my line can take 8MB when I signed up.
this just isnt right at all how they can get away with people paying for a service that they are not providing ??
I asked for my MAC they said yes as long as I pay off the remaing contract..10 months !!
Under the new MAC regulations they are not allowed to do this. They have a legal obligation to provide you with a MAC if you request one.
The new regulations make quite clear that any outstanding contractual obligations must not be a reason for refusing to issue a MAC. It goes on to say that such outstnding contractual obligations should be persued separately from the process.
I would go back to them and remind them of the requirements and escalate if necessary.
If they are still refusing to give you a MAC then I would report them to OFCOM by phone on 0207 981 3040. When getting through to this number do not press the button for reporting a no MAC code as you will end up with an automated complaint. Go for the option where you can speak to an actual person. You could also try logging a complaint at www.ispa.org.uk but of late there have been a number of comments that this organisation is not doing as much as it should do.
