Unfortunately I don't think this is so, if you was to peruse the rest of the forum you will find many others with the same problems- unless theres effort to promote polls people just can't be bothered with voting, the total numbers are disappointing. However, What the polls do show is the small amount of people who have voted they certainly don't get anyway near 8 Meg...This statement of getting up to 8 meg is surely a lie? Its not attainable with Orange!
This was one of two tongue-in-cheek posts that I made. Everything you say I agree with.
My real point is that unless we all stand together - this group is an easy way to get a message to Orange - Orange will just sit back.
Add my exchange, Hemel Hempstead. I'm capped at 2mb for no apparent reason, at sign up i was told 8mb, that dropped to 5mb after a fault on the line.
now both BT and Oranges line checker say i should be able to get 1.5Mb. which is wierd as i sync at 5mb..... online speed test vary from 0.3mb to 1.7mb.
Basingstoke - I believe went LLU last Friday. Modem reports 2.5meg but line tests by me never exceed 800k down and 200k up. The response times are deadly slow and sometimes there is no internet at all. Got my MAC from Orange and waiting to see what happens by Friday.
Update Thursday 22nd - been quite speedy during the day but service has deteriorated badly since about 1600. Performance more like a 28k mode sometimes. I have given my MAC code to BT Business and will give their business broadband a try for a few months. The 20:1 contention is attractive and it's only a few quid more per month than some 50:1 packages. I'll get better and more accessible support too.

you can add the Worcester Park exchange to the list of LLU ,my download speeds are up to 2. 59mbps ,but mostly lower. They are saying that their engineers are working on it. I wonder how long i will have to wait before i try and dump them ,as i signed up to their 1year upgrade at 8mbps.and i'm not getting it ,although i do understand i probably never will. i never had any problems when freeserve or wanado owned it
To be honest Dulwich your stats suggest your are on ADSLMAX and not LLU (this has been mentioned to you in another thread), If you are within your 10 day test period it is suggested that you wait till this is over before taking it further.
Although he could be on ADSL Max it's equally possible he's on LLU as the upload figure hasn't breached the magic 288kbps. With overheads his upload speed comes pretty close to maxing out LLU and if he is on Max then it's almost worryingly low, upload speed is usuaully less effected by problems and should pretty easily go higher considering the download speeds he's getting.
I upgraded to 8Mbps but the fastest I have had so far is 4Mbps, occasionally it drops as low as 2Mbps. I know my profile isn't stuck because my Modem/Router reports 7616/488 kbps SYNC.
I have run speed tests at various time of the day, but it makes little difference. My line is apparently capable of 6Mbps, according to a DSL check I ran before getting broadband.
I wish I had never signed up with Orange (Wanadoo when I actually signed up!), but I had just had my phone line installed and wanted to get online as soon as possible. The Wanadoo CD was the only one I could find (in Argos).
Initially I went for dialup, but was constantly having problems with that. Then I went for 1Mbps, at least that was consistent, approx 900kbps. Now I have 8Mbps, but the service is worse, max 3784kbps.
If it isn't sorted soon, I will be joining the thousands of EX-Orange customers.
It appear from this thread that only 12 exchanges have a problem.
Therefore there is no reason why Orange should think that they have a problem.

right the first time i spoke to Orange customer services the woman (and may i add the only time i spoke to an english person ie not in pakistan no racism intended nor implied ) who spoke to me admited that they was having problems at all exchanges using the llu hardware

If you are getting poor speeds on LLU name and shame your exchange here.
Starting with mine:
Weston-super-Mare - speeds 2.2 - 2.7
Orange will then know which exchanges they have to work on - probably all of them. These posts will also show which exchanges have Orange LLU, details of which Orange do not fully publish.
I have read on another newsgroup that Orange TS are saying:
"That the only `deliberate` capping in place is where users abuse the limits". A fault was raised for that exchange - result awaited.
Keith
Here is the list so far:
Addiscombe
Basingstoke
Denton, Manchester
Dewsbury
Erdington, Birmingham
Hemel Hempstead
Maghull
Morley, Leeds
New Southgate, London
Nuneaton
Pendleton, Manchester
Reading Central
Sedgley, Dudley
Vauxhall, London
Wallington
Weston-super-Mare
Worcester Park
Woodley, STOCKPORT
Woolston, Southampton
You can add the Glossop Exchange in Derbyshire to that one. My connection is 5.6 meg but it wont break 2.7 meg and my friends it 7.6 meg butwont go above 2.4. Not good stuff really.

surely more evidence that speeds are capped and we are just being fobbed of with lame excuses and the pretence that engineers are looking into the faults
