i am a long term broadband customer...started with freeserve dial up in 2000, then wanaddo broadband which became Orange broadband....i had a speed touch modem and was getting 1mb....which is enough for me.
5 weeks ago or so i was getting very slow and un-usable internet....this happens at 4pm until midnight and all day at weekends, so i worked out that Orange could not back up there service during busy times so i phoned up there customer service...i was told that if i changed from my speed touch modem to a live box i would get up to 5mb and it would cure my problem....and the customer service moron said that she had cured plenty of slow connections this way.....well i accepted what she said and she took me step by step through the process...and yes i realise now that there is a new 12 month contract.....i get the box....set it up...same slow speed...i phone up technical support they tell me the line i have will only give 1mb but there is a probable fault which engfineers will be fixing.....5 weeks down the line...pardon the pun i hae the same slow speed...a promise from technical support it will be fixed its a country wide problem but no timescale......according to customer support....i have a 12 month contract if i want out i pay 212 quid cancellation fee....and they ignore the mis-selling fact...as i am hardly going to sign up another 12 months if i am getting poor service....i have been told to write in...to complain to st albans in the mean time i pay 20 quid a month fdor a unusable service and this will be refunded when its fixed....whenerver that is....during the day i get 0.9mb in the evening and weekends i get a unusable 0.5mb.....any advice or views would be helpful.....thanks.
