My router shows my line has 8128 Kbps Downstream and 288 Kbps Upstream.
BT Wholesale say my line is good for 6 mg.
Best speed i have ever had is 2.7 mg.
I asked Orange via e-mail about this. This was their reply..........
Dear alan,
Thank you for your email.
Your line is not capped, if your router shows an 8mbps speed then that
is what you are getting. Please note that actually having an 8mbps speed
does not mean that each individual task will run at that speed.
The increased speed simply lets you do more things at once using the
internet, websites will drop out about 2mbps.
Your intial 12 month contract has already expired.
If you have any further queries then please do not hesitate to get in
contact with us again.
Now, we all know that the first sign that your line is capped is the speed of 2.7 mg
Are we all lying ?
Has anyone had this reply from them in the past, I'm just trying to figure out if this is a standard reply or someone actually looked into it.
Any help would be most appreciated.
If you are not happy with your speed of 2.7 I would suggest migrating to another ISP. You are out of contract so you can leave whenever you want. Your connection stats suggest you are on LLU, and I'm sure you have seen LLU is way under performing and there is no timescale when exchanges will be upgraded. If you want higher speeds right now (as your speed test shows you can get about 6 meg), get out now.
