I have just solved my long standing unable to receive an incoming call on Orange Talk problem, always getting the previously stated message.
I firstly created a Restore Point (XP) and then uninstalled the livebox software.
Restarted the computer and inserted the Orange Livebox set up CD.
The livebox was completely unplugged and firewalls off. The screen Welcome to Livebox came up and I pressed the Orange bar "Install Livebox for the First Time"
I then got a help message "how to disconnect Windows Firewall", which was already disabled, as was my Zonealarm Firewall. I could not get past this help screen!
I gave up, removed the disk and went back to my newly created System Restore point, restarting the computer, plugged everything in on the live box and for the first time ever could receive incoming Talk calls. Give it a try as I'd tried everything else and spent much time dealing with Orange.
Good luck
The talk service is completely internal to the livebox, the software on the PC shouldn't make one jot of difference, unless it's something using all the bandwidth.
More that likely it was just the restarting and reconnection of the livebox that triggered something.
Would you believe it, after too many phone calls to Orange, my Talk service now seems to be fully working. On my last call to Orange I was told that they could not fix it!! I told them several times that I thought they were in breach of contract and I'd be looking at other ISP's, but a couple of days later and I can now recieve calls. My 0845 phone number has not changed and the caller display works in incoming calls, I haven't checked it on outgoing yet.
So I'm happy now . Hopefully they will fix everyone's soon, good luck
Hey, mine works too! I'd given up trying to get hold of Orange and I hadn't even bothered to check if the dam thing was working or not until I just thought I'd have a look on here and read IB's post.
Maybe all the customer complaints are finally having an effect.
This morning I thought I'd try ringing my VOIP number from another phone to see if it was working. As before, it wasn't. Just a clunk and then silence instead of a ringing tone.
So I tried phoning my own number using the VOIP phone itself to see if I would get 'engaged'. Instead I got a recorded announcement in French (just goes to prove where the central Orange VOIP gateway is!).
Immediately afterwards I tried phoning again from another phone..... the VOIP phone rang!
Have now tried from a BT line and two mobiles and all cause the VOIP phone to ring.
So, if you still can't receive VOIP calls try calling your own number. It seems to kick the system into life!
