Ok by now you probably realise im a Orange Tech agent im not going to say my name im not telling where i work, i just want to clear a few things up before letting you know this information so please read
Ok i speak on behalf of alot of agents when we get the tech calls we care and we want to help we arent scripted (how do you script a PC issue would take a week to do diagnostics) I for one have prior knowledge of PC's i used to built them for a living i taught myself MAC's when i got the job as have alot of other people on the floor, the majority of us want to help please do not label us the same as the arrogant people you may get, you may be annoyed at waiting in a queue for 40 minutes (Call earlier or expect the call) imagine how we feel having to listen to you all whine about the fact on every call and take it out on us, is it any wonder some agents get fed up if you come through swearing shouting and what not put yourselves in our posistion,
One final thing, i wont answer PM's granted i can probably fix alot of the issues but i work aswell i cant be on here 24/7 fixing your issues, i will answer when i have the time or call me
OK that over with lets get to the good stuff
MAC WIRED CONNECTION:
simple as hell
a) Open safari, access configuration pages by typing in the address bar 192.168.1.1
b) Press the Orange writing at the bottom (Access to the configuration pages) and put in the user name and password which is Admin and same for the pass.
c) on the right of the new screen is a grid saying Internet Connection then Enable then change click on the CHANGE
d) put in your username and password like this randomperson.orangehome.co.uk@fs password CaSe SeNsItIvE.
e) click validate - connected if not call us up for further help
IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM OPENING THE PAGE THEN CHECK PPPoE:
How to do this, click the Apple in the top left and click on system preferences, click on network and then highlight built in ethernet, ok now it SHOULD say Asssigned by DHCP with the IP as 192.168.1.? (? being a random number) if not click on the PPPoE tab, make sure that the option in here isnt ticked, check TCP/IP again and make sure you have the IP addess if not contact Apple.
This is out of our remit as an agent this is all self taught stuff but thats about as extensive as my knowledge gets on fixing potencial issues with Apple hardware which im sure you can respect.
SETTING UP WITH AIRPORT.
If you completed earlier steps go into the configuration pages again (192.168.1.1) click on Configuration -> Advanced -> Wireless connection, and change security to WEP ONLY. When your Livebox kicks in again, click on Security then Wireless and COPY THE WEP KEY!!!!
Now on the top right of the screen is a fan looking thing (airport icon) Pair Livebox first (1 button click once) and click that icon and Livebox will appear there click it and will ask you for password copy the key we just copied and then click ok and the MAC will do the rest
