I have recently joined your gang of * surfers. I like most of the other poor brainwashed lost souls on here had no choice when Orange told me I was chosen to receive their fantastic 8 meg upgrade.
That was 30 Aug "you may be offline a few hours"
The calls to tech support began on 01 Sep 06 " yes I will be able to help you with that problem, let me explain how to tie a hangmans noose so you can use it on youself in the attic" The most ironic thing is that they greet you with "Good day sir, welcome to Orange support, I am pleased to tell you your now on the fastset speed available, upto 8 Meg"
I have been told, call back in 24 hours, 48 hours and then it has begun to steadily increase, 3 days and now its 5 days. I think they flag you up and the more you ring the longer they put you in the isolation block.
The other tactic to complete control of your mind is the constant carrott dangling. I was told it could be the line BT are onto it, then after about 5 days it could be my connection box, I had speedtouch. So evetually a brand new Livebox arrived. Then more calls to the techies. Still no joy. My lines have been checked so many times, I even got up one night after another failed * attempt and re-wired my house just like BT would.
As well as controling my mind they are stealing my money! They raid my bank account evey month, I am supposed to be on free because I have a mobile contract. but they still take it. I have written and had no reply not even thanks for your letter you whingeing git. I am sure the techies are on commission as the calls to them are national rate and always last ages, it may be why they repeat everything you say it is like talking to an echo, echo, echo....help I am drowning!
Its 07 Oct 06, 38 days offline and I am just awaiting my next call to the control cell who will tell me to do lots of wonderful things to my computer, build up my hopes with things like "we are putting you thru to escalation, the fault management supreme headquarters team, Ant and Dec!"
Please help me if anyone out there knows of anyway to solve this before I do succeed on one of my * attempts!
I was on Freeserve dial up, changed to Wanadoo on takeover, changed to broadband, then changed to Orange on takeover. No real problems till this 8 meg upgrade. I am on wireless and talk with a Livebox. (Theoretically speaking). Talking to you guys now thru Tesco death by dial-up, paying as I go every step of the way.

I was one of the techs at the Orange BB Tech support. I was one of the best tech support persons, but was asked to leave when i said that "we should be more customer friendly even in Tech Support". Things were made difficult and I gave up in disgust. Do I need to say any more?

The important thing to remember about Orange is they are not a broadband provider.
They are nothing more than an incompetent, lying, robbing, non-caring disgrace.
Like the thousands of other people I suffered the lies of Orange when my broadband went down. Endless excuses and 'ring back in 48 hours' etc.
When I requested a MAC code to leave it never came. Eventually I cancelled my account and was free after 10 days.
I moved to Idnet who are absolutley fantastic -
100% reliable, fast connection
free customer support from knowledgable, friendly, ENGLISH SPEAKING staff
1 months contracts.

An excelent post Loz, well put and to the point.
After being a customer for 8 years I had the same for 6 months, I jumped ship and what a difference.
Using the internet now is a pleasure, as it was and should be, not the purgatory it has been over the last 6 months!
And all we customers ask for is what we are paying for no more nor less!

Doesn't come as any surprise to me:
Competant = problems solved quickly = less profit on 'premium' help line
Incompetant = customer keeps calling back = lots of luvly cash
...doesn't factor the 'customer willl leave' into the equation, so add
Customer asks for MAC = dither for a while, give them nonsensical random numbers (preceeded by 'LLU' to give an impression of them being genuine)... which then don't work causing them to call again = more luvly cash even when they are going ...yippee!
Customer satisfaction....irrelevant... not good for profit
"They are nothing more than an incompetent, lying, robbing, non-caring disgrace"
.. A perfect description
Drop those thieving scumbags as soon as you can, your sanity and bank balance would benefit greatly.
Maybe Orange are run by Ferengi ? ..sad star trekness seeping through
