Just found your site and glad I did - confirms my suspicions! I have been with Wanadoo for a while now for dial up and then broadband and all has been ok - until last week when I tried to connect via speedtouch and got the dreaded 'Verifying user name and password' message several times until it gave up gave me error 0721.
Called Orange and yep, without asking me or sending me an e-mail they had attempted to upgrade me to 8 meg. Following several more (costly)conversations and going through the same checks I am left with no date of reconnection but my monthly bill and phone charges to pay.
Is there any hope - has anyone actually got through these problems and enjoying their broadband once again? Or is the only solution to cancel and move on?
Just thought I'd provide an update! After a week of no connection I contacted Orange to see if they could just let me have dial up while I am waiting for my broadband to be fixed. However this was not allowed as my anytime account had expired - I explianed that I had broadband now but as this is down due to Orange I'd appreciate some kind of goodwill gesture - I was told that this is not possible, but I will be refunded money for any time spend off line when the problem was fixed and my internet was up and running! By some of the stories on here that could be months away!
So now I am stuck with no internet access for the forseeable future and may have to resort to paying for pay as you go dial up for something that isn't my fault!
Is there anyone else in the Cardiff area who has these problems or has resolved their issues? Cheers!
i am trying to get money out of them too. just switched to idnet today (thank god) but i am still after Orange for money for the tech centre calls, and for having to pay for dial-up. if they refuse, i am going to tell them that they can stick their mobile phone contract up their arse
An incredible thing has occured - my broadband is working! Not sure if up to 8meg speed but slightly quicker than the 2meg before...I'm not getting too excited as who knows if it will be still working tomorrow. Hopefully some of you have shared my luck and have some kind of service though
The important thing to remember about Orange is they are not a broadband provider.
They are nothing more than an incompetent, lying, robbing, non-caring disgrace.
Like the thousands of other people I suffered the lies of Orange when my broadband went down. Endless excuses and 'ring back in 48 hours' etc.
When I requested a MAC code to leave it never came. Eventually I cancelled my account and was free after 10 days.
I moved to Idnet who are absolutley fantastic -
100% reliable, fast connection
free customer support from knowledgable, friendly, ENGLISH SPEAKING staff
1 months contracts.
