omg where do I start???? I have been with Freeserve since the begining then Wanadoo and had very little problems. Asoon as I heard that that evil scum company was taking over I felt sick. Straight away we experienced problems firstly they said they have increased our speed. Which is total rubbish because it was still slow as hell. We kept on getting dissconnecting every 5minutes we then complety lost bb. We rang there useless unforgivable call centre which costs 50p a minute, they had me crawling on the floor changes cables when they knew it was their sever.
on friday 9th September at about 23:30 the lights just went off. the @ light now flashes slowy and we get f**king ppp sever down!!!!! Its been 2weeks and it will be 4eva. My brother rang up and spoke 2 the supervisor 4 1hour!! demanding to cancel. They had the nerve to say nope if u do we will charge you 250 quid!! However my brother complety ripped him and he said he will cancel 4 us. He said we will recieve our MAC on the 29th. So I thort it was finally over but no I have found out he has not cancelled the accout!!!!!!!!!! The evil b******! He blatly lied.
So I dont know what to do??? My mum has cencelled the payments but our line is f**ked I cant go with BT because they say our line already ha stheir crap on it!!! I h8 Orange with all my heart I wish they go bankrupt!!! What is LLU? How will I ever be rid of them??? Their like a plague.
My connection went down a couple of days earlier than yours, bloody slow flashing light. Had the tech and cutomer support nightmare to the point of almost cancelling and b*****ks to any threats from Orange. I assume you're using the livebox. If you have the courage to phone them again ask them to send a modem, they're free. I managed to get back online yesterday using one though do know that someone else on here, london based also, managed a factory reset of the live box and it's back on. I have no idea when it came back up but would have been nice of the f****** to have told me.
The free modem may only be available if you've not already managed to cancel

You must have been calling the wrong number then as unless you're on the starter package it's national rate calls, as you have a livebox you're not on starter.

No he didn't, if they cancel your account you can't use a MAC code, it has to remain open so it can be migrated otherwise that makes the code useless. Once the code is used and they get confirmation your account should then be closed.

Wait and use the MAC code or call and cancel. It's the same with any ISP. Another can't put broadband on or take over control without using the code to migrate or cancelling and having the line cleared.
LLU just means Orange equipment at the exchange is used to provide the connection rather than the BT equipment.
Thank you for replying. I'm gonna ring them up 2moro and demand they get rid of that LLU sh*t and say will I still get my MAC code. Do you know what tho if they turn around and say to me we have no records of your call I will personally go 2 their call centre and * them!! Once I ring them I'm gonna ring OFCOM and other legal places just to say how can I get rid of them!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am using dial up at the mo and they havent even apolozised its disgusting!!! EVERY 1 LEAVE Orange SERIOUSLY GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN!!
1. Use the requested MAC code so the line is transferred to a new provider, as Orange use an exclusive LLU system you'd be migrated onto either a BT IPStream connection or another providers LLU depending on what they supply.
2. Call and cancel, this initiates a cease to remove the broadband from your line which usually takes upto 10 working days. If you choose this option as soon as the account is closed (practically immediately) the cease is ordered and you won't be able to use any MAC codes you've received as they can't be processed while a cease is going through.

Sadly the problems you've been having rings true with many of us.
This LLU is still pushing ahead, even though it has caused huge problem with Orange customers - and they don't care!!!
From personal experience (LLU 'upgrade' caused me to lose Broadband for 2 months) I wouldn't even bother with a MAC, they gave me 3 of them , none worked, wasting another couple of weeks, and if they do work, you can only migrate to another LLU supplier, which many aren't.
My advice is to cancel account altogether, and they will then have to remove the marker off your line.
This means
a) you can go to any other broadband supplier(not just LLU)
b) will take 2 weeks to disconnect line (but eill lose accoutn immediately)
c) your new ISP may charge you an activiation fee (£40ish) as you will no longer have an enabled phone line.
d) new activiation will probably take another week
The latter is a bummer, but at least you won't have to speak to those muppets anymore and waste more time and money.
Once I'd cancelled my account, was back up and running in approx 3 weeks (took Orange 2 weeks to disconnect and 1 week to be connected to new ISP).
It's all pretty s#itty, but seems to be a growing issue across 'broadband britain' (ha fking ha!) .
Some colleagues at work have started having similar issues with Talk Talk and Bulldog, maybe all these ISPs don't have their own engineers, and outsource it to the same bunch of useless twats.
They seem to have just as appalling customer care also.
I've just gone to IDnet, and so far it's all been a good experience, was connected on the day they said I would be, and has been reliable ever since. A less well known company, but at least they seem to give a damn.

Hi
You can go to a non LLU provider with an LLU MAC but sadly not many ISP's accept them including other LLU operators ironic innit, im not suprised to hear that about Bulldog as its now owned by Pipex.
Glad you are now problem free spiney.
Regards
