Hi, Went round to a friends last night to help him move his live box to another room, he has had a new phone extension fitted and when we moved the livebox it simply wouldnt connect to the internet, we had ADSL filter fitted on that socket BTW. so we took the livebox back to the original room and disconnected the extension, but the livebox still wouldnt connect. Basically the livebox is now connected via ADSL filter to the main incoming line and there are no extensions connected at all. We rang tech support who eventually told us to do a reset on the box (unplug, hold down button one until the 3 lights come one (this is a really old livebox BTW)) and he then told us to ring back in 30 mins. we simply couldnt get through again....
So the live box wont connect tho the internet at all, and for some reason the laptop will not connect via wi-fi either. We have pressed button one, the wi-fi light flashes but the laptop just keeps telling us that the security settings are wrong for the connection. I have manually input the WEp key from the bottom of the live box and it still wont work.
So, does doing a full reset effect the WEP Key?? on the laptop it gives me the option to select no authentication or shared I have tried both, but which one should it be?
Also, we have now learnt that when we get this working and connect up the new phone extension that we should have ADSL filters on all the sockets... Can anyone tell me why???
