So, sometimes does the modem remain synch'ed (ADSL light stays solid green) when you pick up the phone?

There's no point trying to re-connect until the ADSL light goes back to solid green. Are you always able to re-connect within say a minute regardless of whether the phone is in use?

Is everything connected to your line (e.g. Sky box) connected via a filter?

Do you mean that you've disconnected the internal modem frrom the phone line?
It's either a filtering/set-up problem or a line fault.
Do you have the type of master with a test socket on the back plate?
If so, do you get the same symptoms with phone and modem connected directly to the filter and with filter connected directly to the test socket (IOW with no extension wiring involved). Please try with 2 different phones and 2 different filters.
If you can answer all the questions above then someone on here should be able to give further advice.
no when the phone is answered the green light starts flashing.
i can always re-connect straight away regardless of whether im on the phone.
no i have the phone socket with a filter installed and from the filter i have an extention cable running about 30 ft to my pc and from the end of the extention cable is my other filter and my phone.
i have disconnected the modem from the pc..the face plate is in one peice.

Hi,
1) Have I got this right? You've got your modem and phone connected to filter1 and then it goes
hi.
i have a filter1 plugged into only the BT phone socket i have, and from the filter1 i have an extention cable that runs along the skirting board to the pc. about 30 ft long.
then at the other end of the extention cable i have filter2 and running into that i have a phone which is on my pc desk and my modem line.
and thats the set up..no Sky line at all..nothing..no other phone sockets.
Your extension is too long, and u r using 2 filtres. Use a shorter ext. cable and ONLY 1 filter. You should be fine with this setup.

Hi all, Marshapc is spot on.
Your set up should be one end of your extension lead plugged in to your main BT socket with NO FILTER,.
At the other end fit (1) filter, in to this plug your phone and modem.
The way you have it set up now the signal is going through 2 filters.
The maximum recomended length for ext cables is 10M so you are just on the borderlines, OK if you have a good signal, not so good if you have a poor signal. If you are lucky it may be ok with the correct set up ie. 1 filter.
A couple of solutions (1) as Marshapc suggests reduce the length of your extension cable, though this is not always possible, (2) go for a good quality COPPER ext. cable, some cheaper ones are alluminium, (3) move the computer closer to the main BT socket, then again not always feasable, (4) go for a wireless modem router.
Don't forget, just change one thing at a time and see how you go.

Try removing filter1 completely so that your extension plugs directly into your BT socket. The length of your extension is unlikely to be an issue.
Thanks for all ur help guys.
i have tryed unplugging the filter 1 from the BT socket and leaving filter 2 inline but when i use my phone it seems like it is echoing..if i plug filter 1 back in the phone is fine again.
i also have a phone upsatirs so i tryed plugging filter 1 in upstairs but then i couldnt connect at all to the net.
